Політична і судова боротьба за легальність абортів розгорілася в США з липня минулого року, коли Верховний суд, у якому більшість становлять консерватори, на федеральному рівні скасував конституційне право на аборт, залишивши це питання на розсуд окремих штатів.
У четвер губернатор Флориди Рон ДеСантіс підписав закон про обмеження абортів. Документ забороняє переривати вагітність після шостого тижня. Однак обмеження можуть набути чинності лише після того, як Верховний суд штату ухвалить рішення щодо діючого закону, який забороняє аборти після 15 тижнів.

Мальта – єдина країна Європейського Союзу, де штучне переривання вагітності заборонене за будь-яких обставин, навіть якщо життю чи здоров’ю матері загрожує небезпека.
До масштабної демонстрації на чолі з колишньою лідеркою лівоцентристів Марі Луїзою Колейру Прека долучився єпископ католицької церкви Мальти та лідер консервативної опозиції. Протестувальники, зокрема, виставили збільшене зображення плоду перед будівлею офісу прем’єр-міністра країни.
«Ми тут, щоб бути голосом ненародженої дитини», – заявила Марія Формоза, котра виступала на акції з промовою.
Учасники протесту тримали транспаранти з написами «Не впускайте аборти на Мальту» та «Захистіть наших дітей» і скандували: «Ні» – абортам, «так» – життю!» Католицька Мальта – єдина держава Європейського Союзу, де штучне переривання вагітності не дозволяється за жодних обставин.
Минулого тижня міністр охорони здоров’я Кріс Фірн вніс на розгляд парламенту поправку, згідно з якою лікарям не загрожуватимуть чотири роки ув’язнення за переривання вагітності в жінки із серйозними захворюваннями. Водночас досі жоден медик на Мальті не був притягнутий до відповідальності за таким звинуваченням.
І правоцентристська опозиція, і впливова католицька церква, і низка громадських організацій назвали поправку до закону непотрібною. На їхню думку, це прокладе шлях до повної легалізації абортів.
Заклик змінити закон про аборти на Мальті пролунав після того, як у червні туристці з США Андреа Пруденте відмовили в проведенні аборту. За словами лікарів, життя жінки було під загрозою, тому її зрештою доправили до Іспанії, де зробили операцію. Пізніше Пруденте подала до суду на уряд Мальти й закликала суди визнати таку сувору заборону абортів порушенням прав людини.

Після того як 24 червня Верховний суд США скасував право на аборти по всій території країни, президента-демократа звинуватили в тому, що він недостатньо рішуче відреагував на це рішення.
Джо Байден, у свою чергу, стверджує, що його влада обмежена і найкращий спосіб відновити справедливість – прийняти федеральний закон.
Для цього, за його словами, виборці повинні забезпечити демократам більшість на загальних виборах у листопаді.

Заклики виходити на вулиці стали поширюватися відразу після того, як Верховний суд скасував свою ж ухвалу, прийняту півстоліття тому, про федеральні гарантії прав жінок на переривання вагітності.
Свої акції проводили водночас і прихильники рішення Верховного суду, вони закликали, зокрема, не зволікати з діями щодо захисту ненароджених дітей. Очікується, що найближчим часом більш жорсткі обмеження або заборони абортів запровадять 26 штатів.
В організаціях за вільний вибір жінок обіцяють, у свою чергу, допомогти тим, хто потребує переривання вагітності.

З рішенням Верховного суду США про обмеження права на аборти в штаті Міссурі набули чинності положення закону 2019 року, які значно обмежують перелік підстав для легального переривання вагітності.
У Канзасі, у свою чергу, такі заходи здаються неможливими: Верховний суд штату раніше визнав конституційним захист прав жінок на аборти. Але проблеми все одно будуть, – попереджає лікар клініки Trust Women Clinic Ребекка Тауб:
«Нам пощастило, що в Канзасі зараз доступ до допомоги знаходиться під захистом, але тепер ми очікуємо побачити ще більше пацієнтів з інших штатів, ніж раніше. А отже, будуть проблеми з доступом до абортів людей із сусідніх штатів та мешканців Канзасу, які не зможуть записатися через брак місць».
У Білому домі не приховують свого розчарування щодо рішення Верховного суду з приводу абортів. Віце-президент США Камала Харріс заявила про кризу охорони здоров’я. За її словами, після скасування постанови про аборти мільйони американських жінок лягли спати, не маючи того доступу до медицини та репродуктивної допомоги, які мали ще вранці.
За обмеження підстав для абортів виступали республіканці. Демократи ж, як очікується, спробують ухвалити федеральний білль про право на переривання вагітності.

По всій Польщі жінки та чоловіки вийшли на протести через майже повну заборону абортів. Вони перекривали центральні дороги у містах, у Варшаві автівка в’їхала у двох протестувальниць. Учасники акції обіцяють продовжити протест найближчими днями.

Акції протести відбулися не тільки у таких великих містах як Варшава, Краків, Катовіце, Познань, Люблін, але й у безлічі менших містах. За даними польських медіа, у протестах брали участь тисячі людей. Наприклад, лише у Кракові протестували приблизно 5 тисяч людей, одну людину затримали через напад на співробітника дорожнього руху.

Протестувальники тримали в руках плакати «Досить», «Я не стану вашим мучеником», «Злі жінки можуть змінити світ», «Я хотіла б скасувати цей уряд».
Учасники акції влаштували блокаду доріг у своїх містах, через це рух будь-якого транспорту, зокрема громадського, був паралізований. Наприклад, у Катовіце блокада доріг тривала понад 3 години.
