Американський авіаносець «USS Harry S. Truman», який наразі перебуває у Червоному морі, зазнав чергової втрати — ще один винищувач F/A-18 Super Hornet впав у воду.

За наявною інформацією, аварія сталася під час посадки літака на палубу авіаносця. Виникли проблеми у гальмівній системі, через що винищувач не зміг зупинитися та зірвався за борт.
Місцезнаходження літака наразі невідоме, тривають пошукові роботи.
Пілот та офіцер зі систем озброєння, які перебували у кабіні, встигли катапультуватися. Їх оперативно підібрав рятувальний гелікоптер. Обидва члени екіпажу отримали легкі травми, їхньому життю нічого не загрожує.
Військове командування США вже розпочало офіційне розслідування для з’ясування всіх обставин інциденту.
За словами джерел, 6 травня єменські хусити здійснили «постріл» у напрямку американського авіаносця. Проте наразі невідомо, чи пов’язані ці події між собою.
В останній тиждень ситуація у регіоні залишається напруженою через постійні атаки хуситів на військові та цивільні судна, а також на авіацію.
Це вже другий випадок втрати винищувача F/A-18 Super Hornet з цього ж авіаносця за короткий період. Наприкінці квітня ще один літак впав у море після різкого маневру корабля, який намагався уникнути обстрілу з боку хуситів.
Вартість одного такого винищувача перевищує 60 мільйонів доларів.

На одному з авіаносців ВМС Великобританії (Royal Navy) спалахнула епідемія коронавірусу, пише BBC. Новину для газети підтвердило і ВМС: майже сотня людей заразилася на судні під назвою HMS Queen Elizabeth, вірус з’явився й на інших кораблях флоту.
І це попри те, що кожен член екіпажу, як заявив міністр оборони Бен Воллес, уже був щеплений двома дозами вакцини від коронавірусу. Наразі зупинити розповсюдження вірусу намагаються за допомогою дотримання дистанції, носіння масок та дослідження контактів.
До речі, HMS Queen Elizabeth виконує 28-тижневу місію, у якій беруть участь 9 кораблів і 3700 членів екіпажу. Перед виходом у море на борту авіаносця побували королева Єлизавета та прем’єр-міністр Борис Джонсон.
