Колишнього співробітника поліції штату Міннесота, засудженого за вбивство Джорджа Флойда в травні минулого року Дерека Шовіна відразу після засідання суду перевели до єдиної спеціальної в’язниці штату Оук-Парк-Гайтс (Oak Park Heights), яка має найвищий рівень безпеки, – передає New York Times.







Через міркування щодо його безпеки, Шовін проводить двадцять три години на день в одиночній камері в окремій частині в’язниці, – заявила Сара Фіцджеральд, речник державної установи виконання покарань.



Колишній співробітник поліції, вирок у справі якого буде оголошений 16 червня, може залишати камеру на одну годину на добу, щоб потренуватися. Згодом він відбуватиме покарання окремо від інших в’язнів та під постійним наглядом охорони.







Хоча влада стверджує, що Дерека Шовіна помістили у суворо контрольоване крило через побоювання щодо його власної безпеки, сюди зазвичай переводять ув’язнених за дисциплінарні проступки.



Камери в цій частині установи невеликі, повний набір інвентарю та меблів складається з ліжка, умивальника, туалету та душової кабіни. Затримані можуть заносити до камери лише найнеобхідніші речі, тобто одяг, засоби особистої гігієни, ручку та папір. У деяких випадках вони також можуть отримувати книги чи газети, але лише за умови, що адміністрація в’язниці дозволить це.



Камери оснащені системою відеонагляду, і охоронці заглядають до кімнат кожні півгодини, щоб переконатися, що в’язні справді знаходяться там і не завдали собі шкоди. Психічний стан кожного засудженого, який проводить у камері більше тридцяти днів, обстежує психіатр.



З цієї в’язниці ще ніхто ніколи не втікав.
