У Детройті в США 21 жовтня знайшли зарізаною біля власного будинку очільницю місцевої синагоги, яка також займалася політичною активністю.
Про це повідомляє місцеве видання Detroit Free Press.
Жінку знайшли рано вранці лежачою на землі з кількома ножовими пораненнями. Поліція, прибувши на місце констатувала її смерть.
Йдеться про 40-річну Саманту Волл, яка очолювала синагогу Isaac Agree Downtown Detroit, а до цього працювала на представницю США Еліссу Слоткін, а також у кампанії переобрання генерального прокурора демократки Дани Нессель.
Волл очолювала синагогу з 2022 року та брала участь в інших місцевих єврейських організаціях. Вона також була засновницею Мусульмансько-єврейського форуму Детройта — організації, спрямованої на розбудову стосунків між молоддю цих двох віросповідань.
Справу про її вбивство наразі розслідує поліція та ФБР. Правоохоронці поки що не встановили мотив.

У суботу в районі Детройта і Вейна в штаті Мічиган за короткий час випало понад 17 мм опадів, що спричинило масштабну повінь.
За даними The New York Times, о третій годині дня поблизу Детройта на автобані через велику кількість води застрягло понад 350 автомобілів.
У більшості транспортних засобів, які залила вода, виникло коротке замикання, тому вікна зачинилися й люди застрягли всередині, не маючи змоги вийти, а рівень води тим часом і далі зростав.
Рятувальники відбуксирували понад пів сотні автомобілів із водних потоків.
У суботу губернатор штату Мічиган Гретхен Вітмер оголосила надзвичайний стан в окрузі Вейн, до якого належить також велике місто Детройт. Згідно з документом, на рятувальні роботи виділятимуться державні кошти, а місцеві рятувальні служби, поліцейські та медики повинні працювати посиленими темпами.
