 Про це повідомляє Politico.
 Штраф призначено за витік даних, виявлений у 2021 році. Особисті дані єврокомісара з питань юстиції Дідьє Рейндерса, прем’єр-міністра Люксембургу Ксав’є Беттеля та десятків посадовців ЄС були включені до витоку 533 млн записів, включно з номерами телефонів, ідентифікаторами Facebook, повними іменами та датами народження, які з’явилися на загальнодоступному форумі.
 Ірландська комісія із захисту даних, яка контролює Meta, стверджувала, що технічний гігант США не дотримався зобов’язань генерального захисту даних щодо забезпечення конфіденційності „за задумом і за замовчуванням”, тобто він розробив свої продукти таким чином, що можливий витік персональних даних.
 Окрім штрафу, орган влади наклав догану та наказав „привести обробку даних Meta у відповідність із застосуванням низки визначених заходів усунення протягом певного періоду часу”.
 Facebook ще може оскаржити це рішення в ірландських судах. У ньому заявили, що „уважно розглядають це рішення”.
 Очікується, що Ірландська комісія із захисту даних незабаром також оголосить про три інших рішення проти компаній Meta.
