Супутникові знімки, оприлюднені Північною Кореєю 21 листопада, зафіксували зображення американського авіаносця, пришвартованого в південнокорейському порту, та американських військових об’єктів на Гаваях.
Північнокорейське інформаційне агентство KCNA в суботу повідомило, що лідер Північної Кореї Кім Чен Ин удруге за кілька днів відвідав центр управління супутниками Національного управління з аеронавтики, щоб переглянути фотографії американського атомного авіаносця Carl Vinson, який базується в Пусані (Південна Корея), та військових баз США на Гавайських островах.
За повідомленням KCNA, у суботу Кім Чен Ин відвідав північнокорейський космічний центр, де йому показали знімки нещодавніх «важливих цілей над ворожими територіями». Деякі з цих фото були зроблені над територією Південної Кореї, зокрема атомного авіаносця ВМС США USS Carl Vinson, який з 21 листопада пришвартований у військовому порту Пусана.
За даними агентства, супутник пролетів також над Гавайськими островами, де сфотографував військово-морську базу Перл-Харбор та військово-повітряну базу Хікам.
Північна Корея вивела супутник на орбіту 21 листопада. До цього Пхеньян безуспішно намагався запустити його в травні та серпні.

На Великому острові Гаваїв почалося виверження вулкана Кілауеа. Про це 11 вересня повідомило агентство Reuters з посиланням на Геологічну службу США.
Зазначається, що виверженню передував період сильної сейсмічності. На зображеннях з вебкамер видно тріщини в основі кратера вулкана, з яких ідуть потоки лави.
Гавайське агентство з управління надзвичайними ситуаціями інформувало у соцмережі Х, що виверження не становить лавової загрози для громад, однак вулканічні частки та гази можуть викликати проблеми з диханням.
Агентство нагадало, що це вже третє виверження Кілауеа цьогоріч. Попередні відбулися у січні та червні.

Жертвами масштабної пожежі на Гаваях стали понад сто людей, повідомив на пресконференції губернатор Гаваїв Джош Грін. Він додав, що серед руїн тривають пошуки, тому кількість загиблих може зрости.
Обставини виникнення пожежі та причини, чому не спрацювала сирена системи попередження, з’ясовуються.
На Мауї, частині Гавайських островів, полум’я спалахнуло минулого вівторка. Через сильний вітер та надзвичайну сухість чагарнику вогонь дуже швидко досягнув населених пунктів. Історичне місто Лахайна, колишня столиця Королівства Гаваї, було майже повністю зруйноване.
Губернатор раніше заявив, що згоріли або зазнали пошкоджень понад дві тисячі будівель. Вогонь завдав збитків на суму майже 6 мільярдів доларів.
Для гасіння пожеж і порятунку людей задіяли близько 300 членів Національної гвардії. Розчищати завали та забезпечувати тимчасове електропостачання допомагає Інженерний корпус армії США. Берегова охорона Сполучених Штатів намагається пом’якшити екологічну шкоду, завдану пожежею на морі, і бере участь у рятувальній операції на воді.
Президент США Джо Байден у вівторок заявив, що разом з першою леді за першої ж можливості відвідає Гаваї, щоб оцінити збитки. Водночас він додав, що не хоче, аби його присутність заважала проведенню відновлювальних робіт.
Як запевнив Байден губернатора Джоша Гріна, Гаваї «отримають від федерального уряду все, що їм потрібно».

Число загиблих внаслідок лісових пожеж на гавайському курорті Мауї досягло 89 осіб. Про це повідомляє УНН з посиланням на Reuters.
Кількість загиблих ще може зрости. Зазначається, що ці пожежі на Гаваях стали найбільш смертоносними лісовими пожежами у США за останнє століття.
За даними Федерального агентства з надзвичайних ситуацій (FEMA), вартість відновлення Лахайни оцінюється в 5,5 мільярда доларів, при цьому понад 2200 будівель пошкоджено або зруйновано і спалено понад 2100 акрів (850 гектарів).
Губернатор Гаваїв Джош Грін попередив на прес-конференції в суботу вдень, що кількість загиблих продовжуватиме зростати в міру виявлення нових жертв. За словами начальника поліції округу Мауї Джона Пелетьє, собаки, навчені виявляти тіла, покрили лише 3% району пошуку.
Офіційні особи пообіцяли вивчити системи оповіщення про надзвичайні ситуації в штаті після того, як деякі жителі поцікавилися, чи можна було зробити більше, щоб попередити їх до того, як вогонь охопить їхні будинки.
Сирени, розміщені навколо острова, призначені для попередження про стихійні лиха, що насуваються, ніколи не звучали, а широко поширені перебої в подачі електроенергії і стільникового зв’язку перешкоджали іншим формам оповіщення.
Генеральний прокурор штату Енн Лопес заявила, що починає перевірку прийняття рішень до та під час пожежі.
Чиновники описали кошмарний збіг факторів, у тому числі збої в мережі зв’язку, пориви вітру зі швидкістю до 80 миль на годину (130 км/год) від прибережного урагану та окрему лісову пожежу в десятках миль від них, що унеможливило координацію в режимі реального часу. з агентством з управління надзвичайними ситуаціями, яке зазвичай видає попередження та накази про евакуацію.

Через руйнівні лісові пожежі на Гавайських островах влада наказала евакуювати населення з районів, яким загрожує небезпека. У кількох населених пунктах закрили школи, у місті Лахайна деякі люди, рятуючись від полум’я, кинулися в море, повідомляє AP.
За даними влади, з лісовими пожежами борються як на Мауї, так і на острові Гаваї (відомому ще як Великий острів). Берегова охорона США врятувала 12 людей з моря поблизу міста Лахайна.
Пожежа завдала шкоди кільком будівлям у популярному серед туристів районі Лахайни, повідомила влада міста. Для проведення ефективної евакуації, тих громадян, які перебувають у безпечних місцях, просять наразі нікуди не вирушати.
Влада міста в соцмережах та за допомогою попереджувальних знаків на дорогах закликає не заходити на територію міста.
Гасіння пожежі ускладнюють пориви вітру швидкістю 90–120 км/год. та надзвичайна посуха. За даними Національної метеорологічної служби (NSW), роботі пожежників перешкоджає ураган «Дора», який вирує в південних районах Гавайських островів на відстані близько 800 км.
Про смертельні випадки не повідомлялося. Сума матеріальних збитків поки що невідома.
На острові Гаваї діє червоний рівень небезпеки. Губернаторка Сільвія Люк оголосила надзвичайний стан.
Водночас на острові Мауї близько 15 тисяч людей залишилися без електрики, багато будинків постраждали від ураганного вітру, довелося також тимчасово призупинити використання пожежних вертольотів. Вогнеборці цілу ніч прибирали з доріг повалені дерева та електроопори. Подібні пошкодження були й на острові Оаху, де знаходиться столиця, Гонолулу.

Один з найактивніших вулканів у світі, який розташований на Гавайських островах, почав вивергатися після тримісячної паузи.
Як передає Укрінформ, про це повідомляє Sky News.
„За даними Гавайської вулканічної обсерваторії рано-вранці в середу з вершини Кілауеа було зафіксовано світіння, яке вказує на те, що в кратері Халемаумау відбувається виверження”, – повідомила Геологічна служба США.
В обсерваторії повідомили, що знімки з вершини на Великому острові Гаваїв показали тріщини в основі кратера, які утворюють потоки лави на поверхні його дна.
„Зараз ми не бачимо жодних ознак активності в рифтових зонах. Немає жодних підстав очікувати, що це переросте у виверження рифту, яке б загрожувало будь-яким громадам на острові потоками лави або чимось подібним”, – сказав геолог обсерваторії Майк Зеллер.
Зазначається, що наразі у регіоні оголошено червоний код небезпеки. Головне занепокоєння експертів викликає не лава, а вулканічний газ, який може спричинити загрозу здоров’ю людей і худоби та завдати шкоди посівам.
„Велика кількість вулканічного газу – головним чином водяної пари (H2O), вуглекислого газу (CO2) і діоксиду сірки (SO2) – постійно виділяється під час виверження вулкана Кілауеа”, – йдеться в заяві Геологічної служби США.

У районі узбережжя Гавайських островів величезна тигрова акула атакувала човен рибалки. Хижак вчепився в судно, викликавши паніку рибалки.
Відео опублікувало британське видання Sky News.
Під час своєї риболовлі на каяку біля острова Оаху, Скотт Харагучі зіткнувся із захопливою подією, яку вдалося відобразити на своїй камері GoPro. На відеозаписі можна побачити, як акула наближається до його човна зі значною швидкістю. Вона з силою стикається з каякою і на мить вчепляється в нього зубами, майже перекидаючи судно.
Проте Харагучі зміг зберегти рівновагу і відбити напад акули, відштовхнувши її ногою.
Після цього він закричав приятелю: „Тигрова акула! Тигрова акула, Ренді!”
Сам чоловік зізнався, що, лише подивившись його вдома, зрозумів, наскільки йому пощастило.
„Все сталося так швидко. Я інстинктивно витягнув ліву ногу з води, щоб уберегтися від удару, а потім відштовхнув голову акули. Якби мене попросили це повторити, навіть без акули, не думаю, що мені вистачило б гнучкості”, — написав він.
Унаслідок зіткнення з акулою чоловік не отримав жодних травм, проте на його каяку залишилися сліди від зубів хижачки. Пізніше він припустив, що акула напала, оскільки прийняла його човен за тюленя, особливо з огляду на те, що він помітив одного тюленя неподалік.
„Я зрозумів, що життя коротке, і наш час на землі обмежений. Використовуйте його на повне і будьте ласкаві до людей”, — сказав він в інтерв’ю телекомпанії KITV4.
Тигрові акули поширені біля узбережжя тропічних і субтропічних вод Світового океану. Ці хижі риби можуть досягати довжини до п’яти з половиною метрів і становлять значну загрозу для людей. Біля берегів Гавайських островів щорічно стається приблизно три-чотири нападів тигрових акул.
