Понад 100 людей, за деякими даними майже 200, застрягли на льоді, який відколовся від берега на американському озері. Інцидент стався на Верхньому Червоному озері в штаті Міннесота, що приблизно за 300 км на північний захід від Великих озер (або П’яти озер) поблизу канадського кордону.
Як повідомляє Daily Mail, інцидент з рибалками, котрі ловили рибу в ополонках, стався в понеділок уранці за місцевим часом. Офіс шерифа округу Белтрам, який має юрисдикцію над цією територією, повідомив, що вони співпрацюють з рятувальниками, щоб зняти з льоду близько сотні рибалок.
Для порятунку людей, котрі потрапили в біду, зрештою був створений тимчасовий понтонний міст, яким вони подолали приблизно 18 м до суші.
Близько 17-ї години за місцевим часом влада заявила, що з відколотої льодини вдалося зняти всіх рибалок.
Червоне Верхнє озеро, яке має площу близько 80 гектарів та максимальну глибину 4,5 м, є популярним місцем для риболовлі.

За інформацією рятувальників, пригода сталася 20 лютого о 14:56 у Соборному районі, що на вулиці Набережна Перемоги (річка Дніпро).
Повідомляється, що троє поліцейських, які першими прибули до місця, намагалися врятувати рибалку, але самі провалилися під лід (1 поліцейський — на відстані близько 70 метрів від берега, 2 поліцейських — на відстані близько 40 метрів від берега).
Також провалився під кригу на відстані близько 40 метрів місцевий житель, який намагався допомогти співробітникам Нацполіції
Рятувальники дістали з води 5 людей, з яких: 3 поліцейські, 1 місцевий житель, який намагався допомогти правоохоронцям та 1 рибалка (помер у кареті „швидкої”, особисті дані встановлюються).
До місця події було направлено 13 осіб особового складу та 5 одиниць техніки ДСНС.
