«Звістку про його смерть, повідомлену в соціальних мережах, наближених до 83-річного Гюлена, пізніше підтвердили його родичі Кемаль Гюлен та Ебуселеме Гюлен», – повідомило інформагентство.



Зазначається, що Гюлен, екстрадиції якого Туреччина вимагала від США, звинувачуючи його в лідерстві у „терористичній організації”, тривалий час мав проблеми зі здоров’ям.



Як повідомлялося, влада Туреччини обвинувачує FETÖ та її лідера Фетхуллаха Гюлена, котрий перебував у добровільному вигнанні у США, в організації путчу 15 липня 2016 року. Тоді загинула 251 особа та близько 2200 зазнали поранень.



Гюлен – турецький мислитель та теолог, автор понад 60 книг про іслам, визнаний у 2008 році американським журналом Foreign Policy і британським Prospect провідним інтелектуалом світу.
