Вибух у цеху з вибухівкою зруйнував будівлі та завдав «серйозної шкоди» індустріальному парку на головному острові Сейшельських островів Мае, що змусило президента оголосити надзвичайний стан у четвер, повідомили чиновники.
Влада повідомила, що вибух сколихнув острів, оскільки сильні дощі спричинили повені, в результаті яких загинуло щонайменше двоє людей.
Кадри, які транслювали національне телебачення, показали вулиці, вкриті глибокою багнюкою, усіяні сміттям і вирваними деревами.
«Після вибуху на складі вибухівки CCCL, який завдав серйозної шкоди індустріальному парку Провіденс і його прилеглим територіям, а також серйозних руйнувань, викликаних повінню через проливні дощі, президент оголосив на сьогодні, 7 грудня, надзвичайний стан». Про це йдеться в заяві офісу Вавелла Рамкалавана.
“Всіх просять залишатися вдома. Усі школи будуть закриті. Свобода пересування буде дозволена лише працівникам основних служб і людям, які подорожують”.
Громадська радіостанція повідомила, що двоє людей загинули і ще один отримав поранення внаслідок нічної повені на Мае.
В офіційному обліковому записі уряду на веб-сайті Visit Seychelles X сказано, що міжнародний аеропорт і пороми між островами все ще працюють для туристів.
Сейшельські острови, головний туристичний напрямок, складаються зі 115 островів і є найменш густонаселеною країною в Африці з населенням близько 100 000 осіб.
