Українська сім’я, яка складалася тоді з трьох осіб, знайшла прихисток в Австралії під час окупації Росією Криму в 2014 році, побоюючись війни між Україною та Росією.
„Ми приїхали з України. Я привезла із собою свого старшого сина. Я не могла уявити, що втрачу свою дочку тут”, – розповіла мати дівчинки.
Незабаром після переїзду сім’ї народилася Матильда. Батьки назвали дочку як своєрідну данину новій батьківщині. Матильда – популярне ім’я в Австралії.
„Я назвав її Матильдою, тому що вона була нашою першою дитиною, народженою в Австралії”, – пояснив батько дівчинки.
Сім’я святкувала Хануку, коли почався напад. Матильду застрелили на очах у її шестирічної сестри.
Валентина заявила, що стрілець цілеспрямовано стріляв у Матильду.

В австралійському Сіднеї пожежа на підприємстві з переробки відходів призвела до вибуху резервуара з хімікатами. Полум’я піднялося на висоту 150 метрів. Вогонь гасили понад 200 пожежників, серед них є постраждалі.

Повідомляється, що в Норт-Сент-Мері на заході Сіднея пізно ввечері в суботу спалахнув сміттєпереробний завод, на якому під час пожежі вибухнув резервуар з хімікатами. Вогонь гасили понад 200 пожежників, на яких внаслідок вибуху почали падати шматки бетонних блоків.
За даними пожежної служби Нового Південного Уельсу, двоє пожежників отримали легкі травми рук, про інших постраждалих наразі не повідомлялося.
«Це найпотужніша пожежа, яка могла статися. Люди ще довго про неї говоритимуть. На її силу вплинули різноманітні хімікати. На місці залишаються небезпечні матеріали, ми закликаємо населення тримати двері та вікна зачиненими», – заявив голова пожежно-рятувальної служби Джеремі Фьютрелл.
Причини пожежі невідомі, але очікується, що вона триватиме до кінця доби. Внаслідок вибуху, за даними ЗМІ, сусідні будинки також отримали пошкодження.

В австралійському Сіднеї 60-річний чоловік відкрив хаотичну стрілянину на одній із жвавих вулиць міста, унаслідок чого травми отримали понад 20 осіб. Про це повідомляє Le Figaro.
За даними поліції, зловмисник стріляв по транспортних засобах, що проїжджали повз, спричинивши поранення уламками та іншими травмами більш ніж 20 людям. Виконувач обов’язків комісара поліції Нового Південного Уельсу Стівен Перрі зазначив, що, ймовірно, було зроблено від 50 до 100 пострілів.
Один зі свідків, офісний працівник, розповів, що серед людей виникла паніка, і багато хто спочатку не зрозумів, що сталося. «Це було дуже голосно, з гуркотом, спалахами, іскрами, димом, усе таке», — описав він подію.
Зловмисника затримали через дві години після інциденту в одній із квартир. Під час арешту він отримав травми, після чого його доправили до лікарні для надання медичної допомоги.
За інформацією правоохоронців, 19 осіб отримали медичну допомогу через поранення, спричинені уламками, зокрема склом. Декількох постраждалих госпіталізували. Зокрема, один чоловік віком близько 50 років отримав поранення в шию та груди і був доставлений до лікарні в критичному стані, повідомили австралійські ЗМІ.
Поліція виключила зв’язок інциденту з тероризмом чи організованою злочинністю.

На південному заході Сіднея 52-річний чоловік з ножем напав на поліцейських, які намагалися перевірити його на стоянці для автофургонів. Спочатку правоохоронці застосували електрошокери та гумові кулі, але не змогли зупинити зловмисника, тому були змушені використати бойові набої, повідомляє Origo.
Інцидент стався в будиночку на стоянці для автофургонів, яка знаходиться на дорозі Макартур у районі Елдерслі. Як повідомляє Daily Mail, поліцію викликали, щоб перевірити стан здоров’я чоловіка, який там проживав.

Австралійські прикордонні сили (ABF) підтвердили, що була проведена спецоперація за допомогою пожежників Нового Південного Уельсу. Вони зазначили, що були виявлені „низькоактивні ізотопи”.
Матеріал був у контейнері, тож викиду радіації не було. „Трьох мешканців будинку, де знайшли речовину, відправили до лікарні. За ними спостерігають лікарі. Мешканців прилеглих районів евакуювали”, – йдеться у повідомлені.
Управління з охорони навколишнього середовища (EPA) провело додаткове тестування місцевості й не виявила впливу речовини на навколишнє середовище.
Раніше місцевий телеканал Channel 10 повідомив про виявлення ртуті та ізотопу урану. Цю деталь не підтвердили ні ABF, ні пожежна служба.

У четвер вогонь майже зовсім знищив семиповерховий будинок у Сіднеї. Пожежна служба повідомила, що полум’я вдалося локалізувати, але до того, як його вдалося приборкати, близько п’ятдесяти людей були вчасно евакуйовані.
Полум’я спалахнуло близько 16:00 за місцевим часом, і частина будівлі до того часу обвалилася.
Згідно з повідомленнями, густий чорний дим, який спричинила пожежа, було видно майже з усіх частин міста.
До гасіння пожежі було залучено понад 120 пожежників і 30 одиниць техніки.
За повідомленням австралійського інформаційного агентства 9News, в цій будівлі, яка раніше була фабрикою, а потім стала готелем, деякий час проживали безхатченки, яких під час пожежі евакуювали.
Начальник пожежної служби Адам Дьюберрі повідомив, що з міркувань безпеки також були евакуйовані люди, які живуть у сусідніх будинках, і додав, що, як підозрюється, пожежа почалася на третьому поверсі.
Причина пожежі наразі з’ясовується.

„У суботу в Сіднеї та деяких прилеглих районах буде введена жорстка двотижнева ізоляція від COVID-19, оскільки влада щосили намагається контролювати спалах, що швидко поширюється, дуже заразного варіанту „Дельта”, кількість хворих зросла до 80″, – йдеться в повідомленні.
Повідомляється, що деякі частини Сіднея, найбільшого міста Австралії, вже були заблоковані через спалах, але органи охорони здоров’я заявили, що випадки захворювання і місця зараження ростуть занадто швидко.
За правилами, що діють до 9 липня, люди можуть вийти з дому для медичного обслуговування, освіти або покупок і на роботу. Інша частина штату матиме обмеження на публічні збори, маски будуть обов’язковими в приміщенні.
