Головна опозиційна партія Танзанії „Чадема” висунула шокуючі звинувачення на адресу поліції, заявивши, що силові структури не лише вбили тисячі людей під час жорстокого придушення протестів, але й зараз таємно знищують тіла вбитих.

За словами опозиції, ця кривава розправа стала відповіддю влади на масові протести, що спалахнули по всій країні після скандальних президентських виборів, на яких чинна президентка Самія Сулуху Хасан здобула перемогу за відсутності реальної конкуренції.
„Опозиційній партії „Чадема” заборонили брати участь у парламентських і президентських виборах, що відбулися минулого тижня. Її лідера Тунду Ліссу затримали за звинуваченням у державній зраді після того, як уряд Хассан звинуватив його в плануванні зриву виборів 29 жовтня”.
У середу головна опозиційна партія Танзанії повідомила CNN, що задокументувала близько 2 тисяч загиблих під час придушення протестів. За словами директорки з комунікацій „Чадеми” Бренди Рупії, поліція не лише розстрілювала демонстрантів, але й знищувала їхні тіла, аби приховати масштаби насильства.
„З кожним днем ми виявляємо і підтверджуємо, що в різних регіонах загинуло багато людей”, – заявила Рупія.
Найбільш моторошним є звинувачення у спробі приховати масштаби трагедії.
„Більшість тіл все ще перебувають у лікарнях, а поліція не дозволяє людям забирати тіла… Поліція викинула понад 400 тіл. Ми навіть не знаємо, куди їх відвезли”, – додала вона.
Уряд Танзанії раніше назвав дані опозиції „значно перебільшеними”, проте не надав власної оцінки кількості жертв.
Сама президентка, складаючи присягу на другий термін, визнала факт загибелі людей під час протестів, але не назвала жодних цифр.
CNN не вдалося отримати коментарі від представників уряду та поліції щодо цих звинувачень. Ситуація ускладнюється тим, що поліція заборонила громадянам ділитися в інтернеті фотографіями та відео, „що провокують паніку”, після того, як у мережі почали з’являтися кадри з тілами загиблих.
Міжнародна правозахисна організація Human Rights Watch звинуватила уряд Танзанії у застосуванні „смертоносної сили” проти мирних демонстрантів.
Комісія Африканського союзу заявила, що „надзвичайно стурбована” масштабом насильства та зазначила, що загальнонаціональне відключення інтернету ускладнює перевірку кількості загиблих.
У спільній заяві міністри закордонних справ Канади, Норвегії та Великої Британії вказали на „достовірні повідомлення про велику кількість загиблих і серйозно поранених” та засудили переслідування опозиції та журналістів.

„За останні три-чотири дні після виборів сталося багато чого, і я знаю, що найгірше ще попереду”, – сказала Рупія в телефонній розмові з CNN з неназваного місця в Танзанії, побоюючись за власну безпеку.
За звинуваченням у причетності до плантації канабісу площею 953 гектари, управління з боротьби з наркотиками Танзанії затримало 16 підозрюваних.
Підозрюваних затримали під час восьмиденної спецоперації в регіоні Аруша. Під час акції біля підніжжя сплячого вулкану Меру за допомогою поліції було знищено 953 гектари плантацій коноплі.
Керівник управління з боротьби з наркотиками Танзанії Аретас Ліймо підкреслив, що виробництво канабісу процвітає в деяких регіонах країни, і метою цієї спецоперації було поставити цьому край.

«Вогонь уже кілька днів тримає в напрузі вогнеборців. Танзанія щойно вирішила надіслати армію, як підкріплення», – йдеться у повідомленні.
Зазначається, що пожежа спалахнула 21 жовтня біля табору Каранга на висоті близько 4000 метрів над рівнем моря, який є орієнтиром для альпіністів під час сходження на найвищу вершину континенту, яку називають «дахом Африки» (5895 метрів).
Потім вогонь перекинувся на інші місця. Близько 600 осіб пожежної команди були перевантажені. Водночас, йдеться в заяві сил оборони Танзанії, солдати «вже прибули на гору і готові гасити вогонь».
Минулого тижня вогонь видавався контрольованим, поки сильний вітер не розніс його на інші місця.
«Ми співпрацюватимемо з іншими силами та волонтерами, щоб швидко взяти вогонь під контроль, перш ніж він завдасть значних збитків», — зазначається у заяві. Повідомлень про постраждалих на сьогодні не надходило.
Як відомо, емблематична гора, чия засніжена вершина відома в усьому світі, Кіліманджаро та територія, що її оточує, класифікуються як національний парк, занесений до списку Всесвітньої спадщини ЮНЕСКО. Із загальною площею понад 750 квадратних кілометрів, парк є домом для чудової екосистеми з багатою флорою та фауною.
