Британський суд визнав винними колишнього заступника голови сенату Нігерії та його дружину, які, згідно з обвинуваченням, організували переправлення нігерійського вуличного торговця до Лондона з метою видалення нирки чоловіка для трансплантації їхній доньці, яка страждала від серйозної хвороби нирок, – повідомили в Прокуратурі Великобританії (CPS).
За 80 тисяч фунтів вони також організували операцію з трансплантації в лондонській лікарні, щоби пересадити нирку чоловіка своїй 25-річній дочці, Соні.
Постраждалого переконали в тому, що його везуть до британської столиці по роботі, за що, згідно з домовленістю, він мав отримати кілька тисяч фунтів, йдеться в повідомленні прокуратури.
Справа набула розголосу після того, як потерпілий звернувся в лондонську поліцію та повідомив, що його вивезли з Нігерії та намагалися видалити його нирку.
Зрештою операція не відбулася, оскільки в одного з лікарів медичного закладу Royal Free Hospital виникли підозри через обставини запланованого втручання і він вирішив не проводити трансплантацію.
Генеральний прокурор Джоан Якимец у своїй заяві назвала справу «огидною» і заявила, що, використовуючи свій вплив, підсудні до останнього тримали під контролем жертву, обрану в якості донора органів, не зважали на його здоров’я, в той час, як він не до кінця розумів, що насправді відбувається навколо нього.
