В аеропорту Торонто в понеділок було викрадено золото та інші цінності на суму понад 20 мільйонів канадських доларів. Про це в четвер повідомила поліція міста.
Її очільник Стівен Дюйстейн розповів ЗМІ, що золото та цінні предмети прибули в аеропорт у понеділок увечері, контейнер викрали з вантажного складу. За його словами, поліція вважає цю крадіжку поодиноким випадком. Наразі нікого не затримали.
Адміністрація аеропортів Торонто (GTAA) в короткій заяві повідомила, що злодії проникли на склад ззовні, з-поза меж аеропорту «Пірсон», загрози персоналу та пасажирам не було.
Золото, видобуте в країні, перед відправкою за кордон часто зберігають на складі цього летовища. Через «Пірсон» проходить майже половина вантажних повітряних перевезень Канади. За даними видання Toronto Sun, з аеропорту зникло понад 1,6 тонни золота, що значно перевищує вказану владою суму в 20 мільйонів доларів.
