Чотири людини вважаються зниклими безвісти в північно-західному регіоні Сіньцзян в провінції Чанцзян через зсуви ґрунту, в той час як кілька автомагістралей були затоплені проливними дощами.
У місті Мейчсу в південній провінції Гуантун зсуви, спричинені дощем у понеділок увечері, призвели до загибелі п’ятьох людей і зникнення 15 осіб. У п’ятницю в Гонконзі, спеціальному адміністративному районі Китаю, пройшов найсильніший дощ за останні 140 років, в результаті чого двоє людей загинули та понад 140 отримали поранення. Про це пише Reuters з посилання на державні ЗМІ.
Злива, спричинена тайфунами, викликала ще більше зсувів землі у південному регіоні Кита.
Станом на вечір п’ятниці 144 жителі віком від 8 до 94 років отримали поранення під час сильного дощу, йдеться в заяві уряду Гонконгу.
Бюро погоди Гонконгу вранці в п’ятницю опублікувало попередження про „чорний” дощ. Зазначається, що понад 200 мм опадів було зафіксовано на головному острові Гонконгу, районі Коулун і північно-східній частині Нових територій міста ввечері в четвер.
Надвечір влада попередила про ризики триваючої повені.
У п’ятницю влада Гонконгу закрила школи та наказала працівникам залишатися вдома. Також була закрита міська біржа.
Принаймні одна лінія метро була закрита, а інші працювали із затримками.
Деякі дороги були частково розмиті, включно з основною трасою до південних пляжів міста. Поромні оператори Макао в Гонконзі повідомили, що кілька рейсів буде призупинено.
Екстремальна погода також спричинила хаос у сусідньому китайському місті Шеньчжень, технологічному центрі з населенням понад 17,7 мільйона людей, із серйозним порушенням ділових і транспортних сполучень через економічно важливу дельту річки Чжуцзян.
Понад 100 свиней в районі поблизу кордону з Шеньчженем потонули під час повені, повідомляють ЗМІ.

Десятки тисяч учасників фестивалю Burning Man у пустелі Невада (США) опинилися заблокованими через зливи, які розмила пустелю. Про це у суботу, 2 вересня, повідомило Reuters.
Організатори фестивалю заявили, що доступ до Блек-Рок-Сіті, місця проведення заходу,було закрито на в’їзд і виїзд до кінця заходу. Також скасовано усі активності на самому фестивалі.
„Дощ протягом останніх 24 годин створив ситуацію, яка вимагала повної зупинки руху транспортних засобів на майданчику. Протягом наступних кількох днів очікується більше дощу, і очікується, що умови не покращаться настільки, щоб дозволити транспортним засобам в’їжджати на майданчик”, – повідомили уБюро управління земельними ресурсами США.
Також повідомляється, що на території заборонено керувати автомобілем, за винятком автомобілів екстреної допомоги.
Учасникам фестивалю порадили сховатися на місці та зекономити їжу та воду. За даними ЗМІ, на майданчику знаходяться 70 тисяч людей.

Столицю Франції після багатьох тижнів спеки накрила потужна злива, спричинивши підтоплення на багатьох вулицях і станціях метро.
Як пише „Європейська правда”, про це повідомляє Le Figaro.
Злива почалася надвечір 16 серпня. За оцінками метеорологів, менш ніж за годину випало до 40 мм опадів, що дорівнює трьохтижневій нормі.
У 15-му окрузі Парижа на старції „Баляр” людям довелося йти до перонів фактично у воді.
Після 18 години багато станцій зачинили через підтоплення.
У соцмережах поширюють відео підтоплених вулиць, вода ускладнила дорожній рух по всьому місту.
Проблеми виникли також на окремих ділянках залізниці.

У національному парку в штаті Юта, США, туристи дивом уникнули смертельних наслідків раптової повені (flash flood). Повінь почалась за п’ять хвилин до того, як вони досягли однієї з гір, а стежку, якою вони йшли, за лічені хвилини розмила вода, – розповіли мандрівники, які подорожували Національним парком Капітолійський риф (Capitol Reef).
Група приблизно з 50-60 піших туристів майже досягла однієї з гір національного парку, коли почався сильний дощ, – пише Fox News
Крім того, раптова повінь змила пішохідну стежку, якою вони йшли, а злива з гори знесла дві автівки цієї групи та повністю пошкодила три інші машини.
Група практично опинилася в пастці, люди намагалися сховатися від повені.
Охоронець парку пізніше розповів їм, що це була найгірша повінь, яку він бачив за останні 15 років, котрі він там провів.
Рятувальникам удалося врешті-решт гелікоптером передислокувати туристів, які там застрягли, у безпечне місце, тому мандрівникам не довелося ночувати на горі. Співробітники Національного парку та місцеві фахівці з ліквідації наслідків стихійних лих зрештою зробили стежку з гори проходимою.
За даними місцевого шерифа, дивом ніхто не постраждав, але слід бути обережними, оскільки подібні раптові повені часто траплялися в цьому районі під час сезону дощів.
Місцева влада радить усім мандрівникам стежити за місцевим прогнозом погоди.

У Палермо на острові Сицилія за годину випала річна норма опадів, що стало найпотужнішою зливою за останні двісті років. Місцями вода сягала дахів автомобілів.
Водіїв негода застала в транспортних засобах на дорогах.
«Усе сталося дуже швидко. Вода вже починала просочуватися в автомобіль, коли я випадково наїхав на відбійник, але я й не помітив цього, бо він уже був під водою. Я не міг рушити з місця. Тоді ми з батьками вирішили покинути машину», – розповідає свою історію один із водіїв.
Зійшовши, паводок залишив за собою сотні застряглих на дорогах автомобілів, наповнених брудом. Деякі стояли у воді ще й наступного дня, хоча рятувальники працювали вдень і вночі, відкачуючи воду. Окрема команда на човнах розшукувала двох зниклих безвісти людей.
