Több mint 8 500 hektáron tombol a tűz New Jersey államban, ami miatt ezreket kellett evakuálni, komoly fennakadásokat okozott a légiközlekedésben, és füsttel borította be a déli partvidéket. A hatóságok rendkívüli állapotot hirdettek, mivel a lángokat egyelőre csak részben sikerült megfékezni.
Kedden napközben csaptak fel a lángok az amerikai New Jersey államban. A Jones Road Wildfire néven ismertté vált tűz kedd estére már 8 500 hektáron égett. A tűzoltók munkáját a 40 kilométer/órás széllökések nagyban nehezítették. Kedd estére a tüzet mindössze 10 százalékban sikerült bekeríteni.
A tűz keletkezésének oka egyelőre ismeretlen, azonban a hosszú ideje tartó szárazság, az erős szél és a meleg mind hozzájárultak a gyors terjedéséhez.
A lángok veszélyeztettek 1 320 épületet, és 3 000 lakos kényszerült elhagyni otthonát Ocean Township és Lacey Township településeken. A tűz következtében szerdán reggel több mint 25 000 háztartásban nem volt áram, miután a hatóságok biztonsági okokból lekapcsolták azt. Ocean Township területén egyelőre nem égett le egy épület se, de Lacey Townshipben keletkezett némi kár.
Szerdán továbbra is magas tűzveszély volt közép- és dél-Jersey térségében, de az enyhébb időjárás, az alacsonyabb hőmérséklet és gyengébb szél némi enyhülést hozott. Szerdán délután a 180 fokos szélirány-változás következtében a füst észak felé száll és csütörtök reggelre elérheti New York városát.

A marltoni tinédzsert azzal vádolják, hogy szándékosan okozott tüzet október 30-án, ami aztán több napig pusztított – írja a New York Post.
Az ügyben vizsgálatot indítottak, hamar olyan bizonyítékokat találtak, amelyek arra utalnak, hogy a tüzet szándékosan okozták.
Egy tinédzsert, akinek a nevét a rendőrök az életkora miatt nem árulták el, gyanúsítják a gyújtogatással. November 7-én letartóztatták, az első meghallgatásáig a Middlesex-i fiatalkorúak fogva tartási központjába került.
A lángokat a tűzoltóknak a több napon át tartó küzdelmük után sikerült megfékezni.

Kedd este forgatásból hazafelé tartott egy philadelphiai tévétársaság helikoptere, mely eddig ismeretlen okból lezuhant.
Meghalt az Action News helikopterének pilótája és a fedélzeten tartózkodó fotós is, amikor kedd este lezuhant a philadelphiai tévétársaság járműve New Jersey-ben.
A Chopper 6 nevű helikopter a Hammonton közelében lévő Wharton állami erdő területén zuhant le, nem sokkal este 8 óra után – írja a New York Post.
A hétüléses helikopter fedélzetén csak ketten tartózkodtak, egy Jersey Shore-i forgatásról tértek haza.
A New Jersey rendőrség nem sokkal éjfél után találta meg a roncsot a 122 880 hektáros erdő mélyén, a Mullica River Road mellett. A helyszínt különösen nehéz volt megközelíteni az erdőben való elhelyezkedése miatt.
A tragédia helyszínéről készült felvételeken jól látható, ahogyan a földbe csapódott roncsból az ég felé törtek a lángok.
„Mindkét kollégánknak hosszú múltja volt a csatornánál, és évek óta az Action News csapatának részeként dolgoznak. A 6-os helikopter és azok, akik azt vezetik, szerves szerepet játszanak a hírgyűjtő műveleteinkben, hiszen ők olyan területekre jutnak el, amelyeket földi úton nehéz elérni” – nyilatkozta a csatorna a baleset után.
A helikopter egy 2013-as amerikai Eurocopter AS-350A-STAR volt, melyet a tragédia estéjén utoljára 20:03-kor láttak a levegőben. Az amerikai légügyi és közlekedésbiztonsági hivatal vizsgálja a baleset okát.

New Jersey lakosságának egy része pánikba esett, miután hatalmas lángokra lettek figyelmesek, ami egy közeli vegyi üzemben csaptak fel.
A hatalmas tűzeset miatt a környékbeli lakosokat felszólították, hogy maradjanak otthon és csukják be ablakokat. Az üzem egyik létesítményében a hírek szerint jelentős klórkészletet tároltak, ami így a levegőbe juthatott.
Annak ellenére, hogy a hatóságok egyértelmű figyelmeztetést adtak ki, tömegek lepték el az utcákat, még kisgyereket is lehetett látni odakint, akik a lángokat figyelték. A tűzvész miatt elrendelték a közeli házak evakuálását, a legmagasabb riasztási szint mellett dolgoztak a tűzoltók.
Egyelőre nem tudni pontosan, hogy mekkora mennyiségű veszélyes anyagról van szó, de ez akár 100 ezer kiló is lehet, amiről a CBS tett jelentést. Később a tűzoltóknak sikerült megfékezniük a lángokat, és azokat távol tartani a klórüzem főépületétől.
A tűz oka nem ismert, és amíg a legapróbb láng nem alszik ki, nem tudják teljes mértékben megvizsgálni a területet. A szél miatt a levegőbe került veszélyes anyagok akár a New York-i Staten Islandig is eljuthatnak, erről is figyelmeztetést adtak ki a hatóságok.
Mint arról az RT is beszámolt, a klórgáz halálos is lehet, az első világháborúban vegyi fegyverként használták. A tünetek közé tartozik a légzési nehézség, hányás, hólyagok a bőrfelületen, homályos látás, valamint égő érzés az orrban, a szájban és a szemekben.

Holtan találták meg egy család három tagját a házuk mögötti úszómedencéjükben, New Jerseyben. A hatóságok szerint egy baleset következtében fulladtak vízbe – írja az Origó.
A szomszédok sikoltásokat hallottak a család udvaráról, ekkor keresték a hatóságokat a 911-es segélyhívó számon. Bár az érkező rendőrök megkísérelték az újraélesztést, de nem sikerült megmenteniük egyik áldozatot se, már helyszínen halottnak kellett nyilvánítaniuk őket.
Az áldozat egy 62 éves édes apa volt, Barath Patel, 33 éves lánya, Nisha Patel és Nisha 8 éves lánya. A helyi kórház szakértői szerint a haláluk oka balesetből kifolyó vízbefulladás volt.
A szomszédok beszámolói azonban nem feltétlen támasztják alá ezt, mert ők sikoltásokról is beszámoltak.
A család nemrég költözött a házba. Frank Losacco a helyi rendőrfőnök azt nyilatkozta, hogy ez egy lesújtó nap az egész közösség számára.
