Mintegy 120 embert mentettek ki Görögország déli részén egy sziklás partszakaszról, miután egy migránsokat szállító hajó zátonyra futott – közölte a görög parti őrség hétfőn.
A görög állami televízió tudósítása szerint a Peloponnészoszi-félsziget délkeleti csücskénél, a Malea-foknál kimentett embereket egy partmenti település iskolájában szállásolták és látták el.
A hajó Törökország égei-tengeri partjaitól indult és Olaszország felé vette az irányt, amikor a hullámok átvették az uralmat felette. Azt egyelőre nem tudni, a fedélzeten lévő migránsok mely országokból származnak.
Csempészbandák általában nagy haszonra tesznek szert a menekültek Európai Unióba való szállításából, az általuk használt hajók azonban általában amellett, hogy túlzsúfoltak, elavultak is, így nem ritka, hogy út közben könnyedén léket kapnak vagy meghibásodnak. Múlt hónapban egy hasonló baleset több száz ember halálához vezetett Görögország partjaitól mintegy 90 kilométerre.

Amint arról beszámoltunk, hajószerencsétlenség történt Görögországban, legkevesebb 79-en megfulladta, több százan pedig eltűntek, miután hajójuk felborult és elsüllyedt az ország délnyugati partjainál szerdán. A szerencsétlenség túlélői többnyire férfiak, ugyanis feltehetően a nők és a gyerekek be voltak zárva a hajó raktárába. Összesen több mint hétszázan utazhattak a hajón, ebből százan gyerekek voltak.
A Nemzetközi Migrációs Szervezet (IOM) Twitter-üzenetében közölte, attól tartanak, hogy további emberáldozatok várhatók. Az elsődleges számítások szerint négyszáz utas volt a hajón, a BBC legfrissebb információi szerint azonban akár 750 ember is tartózkodott a hajó fedélzetén, köztük száz gyerek.
Erről a mentési munkálatokban részt vevő orvosok beszéltek, akiknek több túlélő is azt mondta, hogy a gyerekek és a nők be voltak zárva a hajó rakterébe.
Az orvosok megerősítették, többnyire férfi túlélőket láttak el. A görög kormány szóvivője, Iliász Sziakantari közölte, az embercsempészeknél bevett szokás, hogy bezárják a bevándorlókat a hajó belsejébe, ugyanis így akarnak rendet tartani a fedélzeten. Hozzátette, ezért egyelőre nem tudják hivatalosan megerősíteni az utasok számát.
A balesetről a görög parti őrség elmondta, hogy a hajó Pülosztól 80 kilométerre, helyi idő szerint szerda hajnali 2 óra után süllyedt el. A hajó utasai körülbelül háromnegyed 2-kor értesítették a görög parti őrséget, hogy a hajó motorja meghibásodott. Nem sokkal ez után a hajó felborult és mindössze 10-15 perc alatt elsüllyedt.
A mentők még mindig a Görögország partjainál kutatják a tengereket, miközben egyre fogy a remény, hogy további túlélőket találjanak.

A hajó fedélzetén több száz illegális bevándorló utazott a görög bevándorlási hivatal egyik illetékese szerint.
A görög hatóságok eddig 104 embert mentettek ki a tengerből. Négyet közülük kihűlés miatt kórházban ápolnak. Az utasok közül senki sem viselt mentőmellényt.
„Szerda kora reggel óta nagyszabású mentőakció zajlik Pülosznál, ahol felborult egy illegális bevándorlókat szállító halászhajó” – írta közleményében a parti őrség.
A szerencsétlenül járt embereket a Peloponnészosz déli részén található Kalamata kikötőjébe szállítják. A hajótörés nemzetközi vizeken történt, 47 tengeri mérföldre Pülosztól, a Jón-tengeren.
A mentőakcióban a kikötői rendőrség járőrhajóin kívül a görög haditengerészet egy fregattja, a légierő repülőgépe és helikoptere, valamint hat, a térségben tartózkodó hajó vett részt. A hatóságok tudomása szerint a szerencsétlenül járt hajó utasaival a líbiai Tobrukból Olaszországba tartott.

Kibertámadás érte a görög oktatásügyi minisztériumot kedden, megzavarva a központosított érettségi vizsgáztatásra szolgáló portál működését.
A minisztérium tájékoztatása szerint úgynevezett túlterheléses, állami szervek weboldalainak megbénítását célzó DDoS-módszerű támadás érte a tárca rendszereit két egymást követő napon fertőzött számítógépekről a világ 114 országából.
A minisztérium közölte, hogy az ország történek legnagyobb ilyen jellegű támadása bár fennakadásokat és késlekedéseket okozott az érettségiztetés menetében, a rendszert mégsem tudta megbénítani.
A hétfői és keddi történések nyomán a görög legfelsőbb bíróság mellett működő ügyész vizsgálatot rendelt el a rendőrség kiberbűnözési részlegének bevonásával.
„Ez az eddigi legsúlyosabb kibertámadás a görög társadalom, illetve kormányzati szervek ellen” – hangsúlyozta az oktatási minisztérium állásfoglalásában.
Az érettségi vizsgákat Görögországban országosan egységesített teszt alapján egy online felületen keresztül végzik el.
A fennakadások miatt a diákoknak órákat kellett várakozniuk a tantermekben a vizsgák kezdetéig. Mindez újabb politikai vitákhoz is vezetett Görögországban, ahol a májusi választást az eddig kormányzó, konzervatív Új Demokrácia jelentős fölénnyel nyerte meg, de abszolút többség híján Kiriákosz Micotákisz eddigi kormányfő mégsem tudott egyedül kormányt alakítani, így újabb előre hozott választásokat írtak ki június végére.

A két pakisztáni férfi a gyanú szerint egy iráni terrorszervezet tagja lehet.
Letartóztattak két férfit Görögországban, mindkettejüket azzal vádolják, hogy támadást szerveztek egy Athén központjában lévő zsidó étterem ellen – írja a Euronews. A portál beszámolója szerint a hatóságok gyanítják, hogy a két férfi más zsidó célpontok ellen is tervezhetett támadásokat, ezek pedig hóval több áldozatot követelhettek volna, mint az étterem ellen tervezett akciójuk. Letartóztatásukra is azért most került sor, mert a nyomozók úgy vélték, hogy az étterem ellen néhány napon belül megindultak volna. Az ügyben keresnek egy harmadik, Görögországon kívül tartózkodó embert is.
A rendőrség a nyomozás részeként Zakinthosz szigetén is házkutatást tartott. Az eddig közölt információk alapján mindkét őrizetbe vett gyanúsított pakisztáni származású, Törökországból léptek be illegálisan Görögország területére. Tízezres tömeg tüntetett Athénban a keddi vonatbaleset miatt. A tüntetők Molotov-koktélokkal dobálták a rohamrendőröket és összecsaptak velük. A tüntetők szerint a kormányt terheli a felelősség.
„Az ország fiatalságát elöntötte a gyász és a tragédia miatt érzett indulatok. Az eset nyilvánvalóan az állam számlájára írható, ami pénzben méri az emberi életeket. Mi az áldozatok hozzátartozói mellett állunk, és nyílt elszámoltatást követelünk” – mondta az egyik tüntető.
Vasárnapra tízezressé nőtt a tüntetők száma a fővárosban. A zömében egyetemistákból és vasúti dolgozókból álló tömeg fekete léggömböket reptetett a levegőbe. Kezdetben a tömeg békésnek tűnt, később azonban robbanásokat lehetett hallani.
A tüntetők Molotov-koktélokkal támadtak a kivezényelt rohamrendőrökre. Gyújtogattak és betörték az üzletek kirakatait. A hatóságok könnygázzal késztették visszavonulásra a tömeget, de volt, ahol rendőrmotorral hajtottak az emberek közé és gumibotokkal verték őket.
Görögországban a hét eleje óta folyamatosak a megmozdulások. Vasárnap Thesszalonikiben is ezrek vonultak az utcákra.
„Én az ötödik kocsiban utaztam. Amikor az első szerelvények összeütköztek a miénk is megrázkódott és a levegőbe emelkedett. A fejem a vonat plafonjának csapódott. Az összes ablak betört, mindenkit összevágtak az üvegszilánkok” – jelentette ki egy túlélő.
A tüntetők szerint a legkevesebb ötvenhét ember életét követelő baleset elkerülhető lett volna, ha a kormány nem állítja le a vasútfejlesztéseket. Görög lapok szerint az adott vonalon már legalább egy évtizede semmilyen biztosítóberendezés nem működött, így mindent kézzel kellett irányítani. Vasúti szakszervezetek szerint 750-en végzik kétezer dolgozó munkáját.
A görög kormányfő bocsánatot kért az incidensért. De a hivatalos kormányzati álláspont szerint emberi mulasztás okozta a tragédiát.
A larisszai vasútállomás vezetője ellen gondatlanságból elkövetett emberölésért emelhetnek vádat.
Ha bebizonyosodik a bűnössége, akkor élete végéig börtönbe kerülhet.
„Ezekben a napokban gyakran gondoltam a görög vonatbaleset áldozataira. Sok fiatal diák volt köztük. Imádkozom az elhunytakért és szívemen viselem a sérültek és családjaik sorsát. A Szentanya vigyázza őket” – fogalmazott a katolikus egyházfő.

Az evakuálás az ütközés súlyossága miatt nagyon nehéz körülmények között zajlik – mondta Vaszilisz Vartakojannisz, a tűzoltóság szóvivője. Elmondta, hogy égési sérültek ellátására használt kórházi egységeket riasztottak a térségbe, és több tucat mentőautót vontak be a munkálatokba; 85 sérültet a közeli kórházakba szállítottak – tette hozzá.
A kisebb sérüléseket szenvedett vagy sértetlen utasokat, mintegy 250 embert autóbusszal szállították a 130 kilométerre északra fekvő Szalonikibe. A görög állami televízió, az ERT felvételei szerint a fejlámpát viselő mentőalakulatok sűrű füstben kutattak túlélők és sérültek után a vonatok roncsai között.

A kisebb sérüléseket szenvedett vagy sértetlen utasokat autóbusszal szállították a 130 kilométerre északra fekvő Szalonikibe. A láriszai kórház tisztviselői szerint legalább 25 embernek súlyos sérülései vannak.
A mentésben részt vevő egyik egészségügyi alkalmazott azt mondta: „Soha életemben nem láttam még ilyet. Ez tragikus”.
A vagonok közül több megsemmisült vagy teljesen roncsolódott, ami különösen megnehezítette a mentést, több kocsi erősen füstölt vagy lángolt. A roncsok közé szorult emberek kiszabadítása folyik, de nehéz körülmények között zajlik – tette hozzá.
A láriszai kórház tisztviselői szerint legalább 25 embernek súlyos sérülései vannak.
Konsztantinosz Agorasztosz a SKAI TV-nek azt mondta, „az ütközés nagyon erős volt, a személyvonat első négy kocsija kisiklott, és az első két kocsi, amely kigyulladt, szinte teljesen megsemmisült.”
A helyi média úgy tudja, a személyvonaton mintegy 350-en utaztak.
A Skai TV-ben egy utas azt mondta: „A baleset pillanatában felugrottunk, mert az ablakok hirtelen felrobbantak. Az emberek sikoltoztak és megijedtek. Szerencsére ki tudtuk nyitni az ajtókat, és elég gyorsan el tudtunk menekülni. Más vagonokból nem tudtak kiszállni az utasok, az egyik kigyulladt”.
„A vonat felborult, és majdnem a szakadékba zuhant, majd a vagon lángra kapott… Az én vagonomban öt sérült utas volt” – mesélte egy másik utas a Skai TV-nek.
Arról egyelőre nem közöltek részleteket, hogy miért ütközött össze a két vonat. A görög média szerint ez volt „Görögország eddigi legsúlyosabb vasúti balesete”.
