A 41 éves férfi, aki a gyanú szerint egy választási kampánybeszéd közben közelről, házilag készített fegyverrel hátulról lőtte le Abét, azt mondta, hogy több fegyvert is készített – jelentette a Kyodo japán hírügynökség.
A rendőrség átkutatta a nyugati Nara városában lévő otthonát, és lefoglalt olyan fegyvereket, amelyek hasonlóak voltak ahhoz, amelyet a helyszínen találtak.
Az említett források közölték, hogy a vádlott letartóztatása után azt mondta, hogy az Abét támogató vallási csoport iránti gyűlöletből cselekedett. Kijelentette, hogy anyja nagy összegeket adományozott a vallási szervezetnek, amely tönkretette őt.
Sem a rendőrség, sem a japán állami média nem nevezte még meg a csoportot. A Gendai Business című internetes magazin azonban most azt állítja, meg nem nevezett forrásokból értesült arról, hogy a néhai dél-koreai vallási és üzleti vezető, Szun Mjung Mun vitatott Egyesítő Egyházáról van szó.
A Mun szektaként is ismert Egyesítő Egyházának számos országban, köztük Japánban is vannak tagjai.
Az intézményt heves bírálatok érték a világuralomra való törekvés és a tömeges esküvők szisztematikus megszervezése miatt.
A magát messiásnak kikiáltó Szun Mjung Mun 2012 szeptember elején halt meg 92 évesen. Egyházát 1954-ben alapította, amely mára egyes becslések szerint világszerte hárommillió követőt számlál és 194 országban van jelen.
A sokak által szektaként nyilvántartott intézmény nem csak a tömeges esküvők miatt szerepelt sokat a hírekben, de azért is, mert multimilliárdos vallási és üzleti birodalmat működtet.

Kórházba szállítása után belehalt sérüléseibe Abe Sindzó volt japán miniszterelnök, miután egy pénteki kampányrendezvényen többször rálőttek.
A politikus ellen pénteken követtek el merényletet egy választási kampányesemény közben Nara városában. Azonnal kórházba szállították, ahol később belehalt súlyos sérüléseibe.
Abé Sindzó korábbi japán miniszterelnök egy rendezvényen vett részt éppen, amikor hátulról lövés érte. A helyi média a korábban kormányzó Liberális Demokrata Pártra hivatkozva arról számolt be, hogy Abe a támadás után eszméletlen volt és a nyakán vérzett.
A Kyodo japán hírügynökség beszámolója szerint a súlyosan sérült volt államfőt helikopterrel kórházba szállították. A rendőrség őrizetbe vett egy 40 év körüli férfit, a feltételezett elkövetőt, a hatóságok pedig lefoglaltak egy házi készítésű fegyvert is.
Abe Sindzó 1954-ben született Tokióban, igazi politikai dinasztia sarjaként, nem véletlen, hogy ő is erre a pályára lépett.
2006-ban a kormányzó Liberális Demokrata Párt elnökévé választották, szeptember 26-án pedig beiktatták japán miniszterelnökké.
Egy évvel később lemondott tisztségéről, 2012-ben azonban újra miniszterelnökké választották, tisztségét pedig egészen 2020-ig betöltötte, amikor is egészségügyi okokból lemondásra kényszerült. Ezzel ő vált Japán leghosszabb ideig hivatalban lévő miniszterelnökévé.
Egészségügyi problémái ellenére továbbra is aktívan politizált. A merénylet időpontjában is egy kampányrendezvényen vett részt. Abe Kei Satō tanácsos, a Liberális Demokrata Párt újraválasztásáért induló jelöltje nevében mondott beszédet a vasárnap esedékes felsőházi választások előtt.

Abe Sindzó volt japán miniszterelnök tüdőlövést kapott, életveszélyes állapotban van, miután kétszer hátba lőtték, miközben beszédet mondott Nara városában. Hírügynökségi információk szerint Abét légi úton kórházba szállították, és úgy tűnt, hogy leállt a szíve- és a légzése, ami egy Japánban használt kifejezés, és az életjelek hiányát jelzi, általában megelőzi a halottá nyilvánítást.
A BBC értesülései szerint a merénylet helyszínén dolgozó rendőrök azt mondták, a japán politikus nem mutatott életjeleket a történtek után, kritikus állapotban szállították kórházba.
Ezt erősítette meg Fumio Kishida japán miniszterelnök is, hozzátéve, az orvosok küzdenek és mindent megtesznek Abe Sindzó életéért.
„Reménykedem és imádkozom, hogy Abe túlélje ezt” – fogalmazott. A kormányfő egyben elítélte a merényletet, azt barbárnak és gonosz cselekedetnek minősítette. Azt mondta, az elkövető motivációja nem világos, ugyanakkor a közelgő japán választásokat a demokrácia alapjának nevezte és kijelentette, hogy a támadás elfogadhatatlan.
A rendőrség őrizetbe vett egy Tetsuya Yamagami nevű, negyvenes éveiben járó, Narában élő férfit. A feltételezett merénylő állítólag nem próbált elmenekülni. A támadás egyik szemtanúja azt mondta, hogy az első lövéstől Abe hátrafelé tántorodott, és a második lövés után a földre esett – írja a Bloomberg.
