Orosz vadászgépek miatt riasztották az olasz légierő Eurofightereit szerdán. Az Aeronautica Militare a Twitteren azt közölte, hogy az orosz repülők előbb a lengyel, aztán a svéd légteret sértették meg, mielőtt elfogták és visszakísérték őket Kalinyingrádba.
A hírről beszámoló Newsweek jelezte: az incidens Oroszország és Ukrajna, valamint az utóbbit támogató Nyugat szembenállásának rendkívüli feszültséggel teli időszakában történt. Az ukrán hadsereg az utóbbi időben jelentős területeket foglalt vissza a februárban a területükön offenzívát indított oroszoktól, Vlagyimir Putyin orosz elnök és a hozzá közel állók pedig gyakran említik meg nukleáris fegyverek bevetésének lehetőségét arra az esetre, ha Oroszországot támadás érné.

Az olasz vadászgépek részt vesznek a balti régió légterének ellenőrzésében. Matthias Eichenlaub, a NATO sajtómunkatársa a lapnak azt mondta, hogy a szövetség repülőgépei ebben a térségben rendszeresen fognak el olyan orosz gépeket, amelyek nem tartják be a nemzetközi légi biztonsági szabályokat.

Ismét ráhozta az orosz hadsereg a szívbajt Ukrajnára és egyúttal a világra, ugyanis komoly vadászgépeket küldtek fel járőrözni a belorusz légtérbe.
Az orosz védelmi minisztérium megerősítette, hogy két Tu-22M3 típusú bombázót küldtek a levegőbe, amelyek a fehérorosz légierő és légvédelem egységeivel közösen vettek részt egy négyórás misszión – írja az AP hírügynökség.
Ez pedig azért volt kifejezetten aggasztó Ukrajna számára, mert ezek a vadászgépek képesek arra, hogy hosszú távú atomfegyvereket is szállítsanak, illetve felhasználjanak, így belorusz területről is el tudna találni ukrán célpontokat.
Ráadásul a jelenlegi feszült helyzetben, amely Ukrajna és Oroszország között van, minden egyes ilyen hadművelet komoly aggodalmat tud gerjeszteni. Már csak azért is, mert Moszkva nem volt rest a távol-keleti bázisokról áthozni csapatait, csak azért, hogy Ukrajnánál legyenek.
Oroszország és Fehéroroszország februárban közös hadgyakorlaton fog részt venni, azonban sokan attól tartanak, hogy ez lehet az invázió megindításának ideje. A Kreml folyamatosan tagadja, hogy katonai offenzívára készülne, a jelentős seregszám azonban nem erről árulkodik.

A kifutópályán álló helyzetben katapultált két pilóta a Szu-30SzM típusú orosz vadászgépből Krímen – közölték szombaton orosz hírügynökségek katonai forrásokra hivatkozva.
Az eset előző napon délután történt a Szaki légi támaszponton. A pilótákat felszállás előtt röpítette ki a katapult. Mindketten életben maradtak, de a repülőgép-technikus égési sérüléseket szenvedett.
Különbizottság vizsgálja a katapultrendszer meghibásodásának okait. A Szu-30 (NATO-besorolás szerint Flanker-C) orosz kétpilótás sokcélú nehéz vadászgép, ennek modern változata a Szu-30SzM, amellyel Oroszország és számos külföldi ország légi erejét fegyverezik fel.
Az orosz légi- és űrerők 2012-től 2018 májusáig 84 ilyen vadászgépet kaptak, a haditengerészetnél pedig húszat állítottak hadrendbe.
