Három másik gyereket kórházba szállítottak, miután a bronxi bölcsődében narkotikummal fertőződtek. Két embert letartóztatott a rendőrség.



Az egy éves Nicholas Dominici alig egy hetet töltött a bölcsődében, majd kábítószer-túladagolásban meghalt. A bölcsőde átkutatása során kiderült, hogy a kiságy matraca alatt rejtegették a fentanilt, ami az egyik legerősebb szintetikus kábító fájdalomcsillapító. A kisfiú feltehetően a délutáni alvás közben minden nap belélegezte a kábírószert. Három másik gyereket kórházba szállítottak, akik feltehetően szintén belélegezték a fentanilt. Az egyikük még csak 8 hónapos.



A rendőrség két embert tartóztatott le kábítószerrel való visszaélés és gyilkosság vádjával. Egyikük a bronxi bölcsőde tulajdonosa, Grei Mendez, másik a bérlő, Carlisto Avecedo Brito. A manhattani ügyész, Damien Williams azt mondta, az ügyészség szerint a vádlottak megmérgeztek négy csecsemőt, egyet meg is öltek közülük, mert kábítőszer-kereskedelemre használták a bölcsődét.



Kábítószer-kereskedelmi központ a bölcsődében
A házkutatás során egy kilogramm fentanilt találtak az egyik kiságy matraca alatt, ahol a gyerekeket altatták. Ezen kívül a rendőrök találtak a kábítószer összenyomásához és csomagolásához használt eszközt is.



„Egy bölcsődében a gyerekeknek biztonságban kellene lenniük és nem drogokkal körülvéve, ami megöli őket egy pillanat alatt” – Damien Williams ügyész.
A rendőrség szerint a felfedezett drog mennyisége akár 500 ezer ember megölésére is elegendő lenne. A házban lévő biztonsági kamerák felvétele szerint, amikor a tulajdonos, Grei Mendez észrevette, hogy a gyerekek nincsenek jól, előbb felhívta a férjét, majd utána a mentőket. A férfi ezek után két tele bevásárlószatyorral távozott az épületből a hátsó kijáraton. Grei Mendez letartóztatása előtt körülbelül 20 ezer üzenetet törölt a telefonjáról, ám ezeket később a szakemberek visszaállították. A mentők néhány perccel később érkeztek.



A férjet a rendőrség még keres. Grei Mendez ügyvédje szerint a vádlott nem tudta, hogy kábítószert rejtegetnek a bölcsődéjében.

Egy ember meghalt, három másik pedig megsebesült szombaton a Brooklynban és Queensben történt lövöldözések sorozatában, amelyet a New York-i rendőrség „esetlegesnek” minősített.



A New York-i rendőrség szerint egy illegális, rendszámtábla nélküli robogón közlekedő fegyveres öt különböző helyszínen nyitott tüzet Queens Janaica nevű városrészében és Brooklynban − írta meg a CNN. 



Őrizetbe vettek egy 25 éves férfit, akinél egy kibővített tárral rendelkező 9 milliméteres pisztolyt találtak − közölte a rendőrség egy sajtótájékoztatón szombat délután.



Nem ismerjük az indítékot. Úgy tűnik, hogy valóban esetlegesen támadt rá járókelőkre. A videófelvételek azt mutatják, hogy nem lőtt célzottan senkire, nem követett senkit. Ahogy a robogójával közlekedett, véletlenszerűen lövöldözött az emberekre − mondta Joseph Kenny, a New York-i rendőrség nyomozóirodájának helyettes vezetője.



Az első lövöldözés után a nyomozók hozzáfértek egy videófelvételhez, amelyen látható, hogy a gyanúsított hátulról, robogón közelítette meg az áldozatot, és egy lövést adott le.









Tizenhét perccel később a rendőrség szerint ugyanez a gyanúsított lőtt rá egy 87 éves férfira Queensben. Az áldozat, akit a férfi egyszer hátba lőtt, meghalt, miután kórházba szállították.



Amikor a rendőrök a helyszínre érkeztek, egy másik lövöldözéses incidensről értesültek, amelyben senkit nem ért találat. Számos szemtanú azonban arról számolt be, hogy látott egy robogón közlekedő férfit, aki „véletlenszerűen lövöldözött egy csoport emberre”.



A negyedik lövöldözés 11 óra 35 perckor történt, amikor a gyanúsított egy 44 éves férfit arcon lőtt. A férfit kórházba szállították, és kritikus állapotban van. Kevesebb mint egy perccel később a gyanúsított egy 63 éves férfinak lőtt a jobb vállába. Az áldozatot kórházba szállították, állapota stabil.



A rendőrség szerint a fegyveres mind az öt lövöldözésnél ugyanazt a fegyvert használta. A gyanúsítottat Kenny szerint korábban egyszer már letartóztatták New Yorkban.



Rendkívüli módon megugrott a gyilkosságok száma a városban
Edward Caban, a New York-i rendőrség megbízott parancsnoka elmondta, hogy a rendőrök úgy tudták megtalálni és letartóztatni a gyanúsítottat, hogy szétküldték a róla készült képet az összes közelben lévő New York-i rendőrnek, és arra kérték őket, hogy kutassák fel a lövöldözőt.



A hatóságok szerint nem találtak sorozatszámot a fegyveren, és vizsgálják, hogy a számot eltávolították, vagy esetleg egy házi készítésű fegyverről van szó.



Amellett, hogy a fegyver valószínűleg illegális, a kibővített tárak használata is törvénybe ütközik New Yorkban.



New York városa a világjárvány óta küzd bűnözési hullámmal. A New York-i rendőrség tavalyi statisztikái szerint 2022 áprilisáig 42,7 százalékkal nőtt a súlyos bűncselekmények száma a 2021-es év azonos időszakához képest. Az adatok szerint a gyilkosságok száma 9,2 százalékkal nőtt a kétéves időszakban.

Négy cápatámadást jelentettek a New York-i Long Island partjainál a július 4-i ünnepi időszakban. Az Atlanti Cápakutató Intézet szerint az elmúlt két évben összesen 13 támadás történt az államban, több, mint az azt megelőző 175 évben.



A szakértők szerint a cápák azért merészkednek közelebb a partokhoz, mert az óceán felmelegedett az elmúlt években, és zsákmányaik a sekélyebb vizekre mennek.



George Gorman, az intézet igazgatója szerdán elmondta: meglepte, hogy ilyen gyorsan és a szezonnak ennyire az elején ilyen sok támadás történt. A Suffolk megyei rendőrség közlése szerint az első cápatámadás hétfő kora este történt, amikor egy 15 éves fiút, aki Fire Island közelében szörfözött, a sarkán és a lábujjain megharapott egy állat. A fiú nem életveszélyes sérülésekkel került kórházba.
A második támadás szintén hétfőn történt, körülbelül 11 kilométerre az első helyszínétől. Az áldozat egy 15 éves lány volt, akinek bal lábát harapta meg egy cápa.
Kedden két férfit ért támadás, mindkettejüket Hamptons környékén. Egyikük sérülése sem volt életveszélyes.
Egy szakértő szerint a fognyomok alapján homoki tigriscápák követhették el a támadásokat, amelyek a part közelében tanyáznak, amikor halakra vadásznak.



Kedden mintegy ötven homoki tigriscápát észleltek drónok segítségével Long Island partjainál, és több mint egy órán át tilos volt fürdőzni a környéken.
Az elmúlt napokban Floridában és Massachusettsben is láttak cápákat.



Szakértők szerint a homoki tigriscápák az elmúlt években közelebb merészkedtek a partokhoz, mert az óceán felmelegedése miatt zsákmányaik is a sekélyebb vizekben tanyáznak. Bár támadásaik egyre gyakoribbá váltak, ez a faj még sohasem ölt embert. Ugyanakkor más, veszélyesebb cápafajok is átvándoroltak az északabbra található vizekre az elmúlt években. 2020-ban egy nagy fehér cápa végzett egy maine-i nővel az állam történetének első cápatámadása során.

Két autóbusz, az egyik turistákkal teli, összeütközött csütörtök este az amerikai nagyváros, New York Manhattan kerületében. A balesetben több mint nyolcvan ember megsérült, közülük 18-an kórházba kerültek.



A baleset helyi idő szerint este hét óra körül történt a nagyváros egyik sugárútján, a First Avenue-n, a Gramercy Park közelében – közölte Kevin Murphy, New York tűzoltóparancsnok-helyettese.



A tűzoltóság által a Twitter közösségi oldalon nyilvánosságra hozott képek tanúsága szerint egy emeletes, nyitott tetejű turistabusz egy helyi tömegközlekedési járat hátuljának ütközött. Sajtóértesülések szerint a balesetet a turistabusz okozta, amely áthajtott egy piros lámpán.

Fegyveres támadás történt egy New York-i gyorsétteremben szombat délután, a lövöldöző elmenekült a helyszínről.



Felkavaró biztonsági felvételeken látható, amint egy férfi tüzet nyit egy New York-i vendéglőben szombat délután. A Queens kerületben lévő bangladesi gyorsétterem több vendége is fedezékbe vonult, miután a piros kapucnis pulóvert viselő fegyveres több lövést is leadott.



A helyi rendőrség közölte, hogy egy 35 éves férfit fenékbe lőtt a támadó. Más nem sérült meg, a hatóság szerint nem biztos, hogy a férfi volt a célpont, ugyanakkor nem tudni, mi volt az indíték – írja a New York Post.



A támadás után a lövöldöző elmenekült a helyszínről. A sebesültet stabil állapotban kórházba vitték. A rendőrök nyomozást indítottak.

Nyolc ember szenvedett könnyebb sérüléseket kedden a New York-i rendőrség egy olyan raktárában keletkezett tűzben, ahol a bűnügyi helyszínekről származó DNS-bizonyítékokat, autókat, e-bike-okat és motoros robogókat tárolnak – írja a Huffpost.



A tűz az Erie Basin Auto Poundi raktárépületben keletkezett, amely a brooklyni vízparton található, kedden, helyi idő szerint délelőtt 10 óra 30 perc körül – közölte John Hodgens, az FDNY osztályvezetője.



A tűz gyorsan terjedt, így a tűzoltóknak ki kellett vonulniuk az épületből, és kívülről kellett küzdeniük ellene – mondta Hodgens.



Az oltásban drónok, valamint a kikötőből a raktárba vizet permetező hajók is részt vettek.



A tűz, amely kilométerekre látható füstfelhőt bocsátott ki, kedd délután még mindig égett, és napokig is eltarthat, mire sikerül eloltani – mondta Hodgens.



Három tűzoltó, három mentőápoló és két civil szenvedett kisebb sérüléseket.



Jeffrey Maddrey rendőrfőnök elmondta, hogy a létesítményt a bűnügyi helyszíneken talált DNS-bizonyítékok, valamint e-biciklik, motorkerékpárok és autók tárolására használják.



Maddrey elmondta, hogy amint a tüzet sikerült megfékezni, a rendőrség szakemberei bemennek, és megnézik, mi semmisült meg, és mi az ami megmenthető.

A hatóság azt is bejelentette, hogy a letartóztatások nyomán „szerte New York városban az érzékeny területekre” erősítést vezényeltek.

A havazás csütörtökön este érte el Buffalót, péntek reggelre ezt viharos szél és mennydörgés kísérte – írta a portál. A lezúduló hó mennyisége is nő, kezdetben hét, majd péntek reggelre 12 centiméternyi hó esett óránként. A helyi meteorológiai szolgálat számítása szerint vasárnapra a hó magassága Buffalóban több mint egy méteres is lehet.

Kathy Hochul kormányzó az állam tizenegy megyéjét érintő rendkívüli állapotot hirdetett ki, egyes autópályákon kamionstop van, és hasonló intézkedést vezetett be Mark Poloncarz Erie megye vezetője is.



Azt akarom, hogy a nyugat New York-iak komolyan vegyék ezt a helyzetet – mondta a kormányzó.









Az iskolaigazgatók törölték a pénteki órákat Buffalóban és az egész megyében. A vasúti Amtrak állomások Buffalóban, Niagara Fallsban és Depew-ban csütörtökön bezártak, és pénteken is zárva maradnak – jelentette a Buffalo News, miközben számos, a Buffalo Niagara nemzetközi repülőtérre érkező és onnan induló járatot töröltek.
