Október 23-án az Egyesült Államok Európai Parancsnoksága (EUCOM) titkos katonai gyakorlatokat hajtott végre Németországban Oroszország esetleges katonai fenyegetése miatt. A hírt a Stars and Stripes közölte.
Az Austere Challenge 2021 elenvezésű gyakorlat egy hétig tartott. Az EUCOM képzési és értékelési igazgatójának elmondása szerint a képzésen 4400 amerikai és NATO-katona vett részt.
Hangsúlyozta azt is, hogy az esetleges fenyegetésre adott katonai válasz forgatókönyvének részletei titkosak. Hozzátette azonban, hogy a gyakorlat során kidolgozták a szövetséges államok szárazföldi, tengeri, légi, kibertérbeli és világűrbeli egyesítését is konfliktus esetén.

A NATO tagállamai gyakorlatot tartanak a Barents tenger térségében.
Nagy-Britannia, az Egyesült Államok, Dánia és Norvégia közös hadgyakorlatot tartanak a sarkkörön túli területen, hogy „demonstrálják a béke iránti elkötelezettségüket és a hajóforgalom szabadságát a térségben” – írta a brit haditengerészet közleménye, melyet szeptember 7-én tettek közzé.
A dokumentum közli, hogy a műveletekben brit 23 HMS Sutherland és RFA Tidesprin tipusú fregattok, amerikai USS Ross hadihajók és norvég Fridtjof-Nansen HNoMS Thor Heyerdahl hajók vesznek részt valamint dán határőrhajók.
A közlemény kiemeli, hogy a hadműveletek fontos eleme, hogy szélsőséges időjárási viszonyok között zajlanak, hogy „elmélyítsük a nehéz helyzetekre vonatkozó tudásunkat és egyben biztosítsuk a régió békéjét.”
A jelenlegi hadgyakorlat folytatása annak a májusinak, amelynek során a HMS Kent hadihajót visszafordították.

Egy amerikai tengerészgyalogos meghalt, és nyolc másik pedig eltűnt, amikor egy támadó kétéltű páncélozott harckocsi elsüllyedt Kalifornia partjainál.
Az incidens San Clemente-sziget közelében történt, számolt be az ABC News amerikai televízió. „Egy tengerészgyalogos meghalt, nyolc katona eltűnt, és ketten megsebesültek július 30-án az AAV páncélozott harckocsi balesete Dél-Kalifornia partjainál” – idézte a TV-csatorna az Amerikai Tengerészgyalogság Első expedíciós hadtestének parancsnokságát.
Jelenleg az Egyesült Államok Haditengerészetének több hajója és helikoptere, valamint a Partiőrség a tengeren keresi az eltűnt tengerészgyalogosokat San Clemente-sziget közelében. A jelentés szerint összesen 15 amerikai tengerészgyalogos volt a páncélozott harckocsiban, amely a hajóról szállt a partra. Az incidens egy katonai gyakorlat során történt, amelyen az Amerikai Tengerészgyalogság gyorsreagáló csapatai a partraszállást gyakorolták.

Ismét gyakorlatozik az amerikai hadsereg a Dél-kínai-tengeren, ebben a hónapban már másodszor. A csendes-óceáni flottaparancsnokság arról tájékoztatott pénteken, hogy a hadgyakorlaton részt vesz a Nimitz és a Ronald Reagan repülőgéphordozó, fedélzetükön mintegy 120 harci géppel. Több cirkálót és rombolót is bevetnek. Mintegy 12 ezer haditengerész és tengerészgyalogos vesz részt a hadkészültség javítását célzó hadgyakorlaton.
Ebben a hónapban ez már a második amerikai hadgyakorlat a Dél-kínai-tengeren. Az előzőt július 4-én és 5-én tartották ugyanabban a térségben, ahol éppen a kínai hadiflotta is gyakorlatozott. Akkor is részt vett mindkét repülőgéphordozó, kíséretében egy B-52-es hadászati bombázóval. A Pentagon akkor közölte, hogy a manőverek megrendezésével érvényesíteni akarja az államok jogát a szabad hajózásra, légi közlekedésre és tevékenysége bárhol a világon, ahol azt a nemzetközi jog ezt lehetővé teszi.
Az amerikai haditengerészet korábban is tartott ilyen hadgyakorlatokat a régióban, a mostani azonban egy olyan időszakban zajlik, amikor feszültséggel terhelt az Egyesült Államok és Kína viszonya.
Washington és Peking között komoly kereskedelmi viták vannak, az előbbi bírálja Kínát a koronavírus-járvány kezelése miatt, és szemére veti, hogy előnyt próbál kovácsolni a járványból a Dél-kínai tengeren és másutt területi területi igényei érvényesítéséhez.
Kína a természeti kincsekben gazdag Dél-kínai-tenger kilenctizednyi részét követeli magának, amelyen keresztül hárommilliárd dollár értékű kereskedelem bonyolódott le tavaly. Peking úgy próbálja erősíteni szuverenitását a tenger felett, hogy mesterséges szigeteket hoz létre, rajtuk pedig katonai támaszpontokat.
Brunei, Malajzia, a Fülöp-szigetek, Tajvan és Vietnám ugyancsak magának követel egyes területeket a térségben.

Irán egy hétvégi hadgyakorlaton saját hajóját találta el. Egy kísérőhajót talált el az iráni hadsereg rakétája a célpont helyett az Ománi-öbölben tartott hét végi hadgyakorlaton.

A baleset a Teherántól mintegy 1270 kilométerre délkeletre fekvő Dzsászk kikötőváros mellett történt.
Egy helyi kórház tájékoztatása szerint a legénység 12 tagját szállították be, három másik tengerész könnyebben megsebesült, közölte az IRNA állami hírügynökség.
A Konarak nevű, 2018-ban felújított, holland gyártmányú 40 tonnás kísérőhajót 1988 állították hadrendbe, feladata rakéták célpontjainak vízre bocsátása volt.
Irán rendszeresen hajt végre hadgyakorlatokat a Hormuzi-szoroshoz közeli térségben. Az állami média csak ritkán tudósít a hadgyakorlatok során bekövetkező kudarcokról, így a mostani hír elemzők szerint súlyos balesetre utalhat.

Hiperszonikus rakéták bevetésével végrehajtott orosz hadgyakorlatot tekintett meg csütörtökön Vlagyimir Putyin orosz elnök a Krím félsziget közelében tartózkodó a Marsal Usztyinov rakétahordozó fedélzetéről.
Az orosz Fekete-tengeri és az Északi Flotta közös hadgyakorlatán több mint 30 hajót, egy tengeralattjárót és több mint 40 repülőgépet vetettek be. Rakétalövészetet gyakoroltak a Fekete-tengeren egyebek között Kalibr típusú manőverező repülőgépek és két, MiG–31K vadászgépről kilőtt Kinzsal hiperszonikus rakétával. A Kinzsalokat a TASZSZ orosz állami hírügynökség beszámolója szerint egy lőtéri célpontra lőtték ki.
A flottamanőverek során Moszkit típusú hajóelhárító rakétákat és Utyosz partvédelmi rakétarendszereket is kipróbáltak. A gyakorlaton Szu–30–SzM többfunkciós vadászgépek, Szu–24M harctéri bombázók és Tu–95-ös hadászati rakétahordozók, valamint megfigyelő drónok is részt vettek.
Putyin korábban kijelentette, hogy jelenleg egyedül Oroszország rendelkezik hiperszonikus fegyverrel.
A Krímet a 2014-ben megtartott helyi népszavazás eredményére hivatkozva csatolta Moszkva Oroszországhoz. Az ENSZ-tagállamok túlnyomó többsége nem ismeri el ennek a lépésnek a legitimitását.
