A tájékoztatás szerint a megemelkedett vízszint több tengerparti és szigeteken lévő településen elöntötte a rakpartokat. A legsúlyosabb helyzet Kastelában alakult ki, ahol több épületet, köztük vendéglátóhelyeket és üzleteket is elárasztott a tengervíz.
A kastelai tűzoltóság mintegy 200 lakossági segélykérést kapott az elöntések miatt, a beavatkozások csütörtökön is folytatódtak.
Az időjárási szolgálat szerint Palagruza térségében a hullámok elérték a nyolc métert, a spliti térségben pedig óránként 130 kilométeres déli szélrohamokat mértek.
A tengeri-meteorológiai központ péntekre újabb erősödő déli szelet jelez előre.

Hat ember életét vesztette, és több mint 2600-an váltak hajléktalanná, amikor szerda reggel a Gamane ciklon északi részén le sújtott – közölte az országos katasztrófa-elhárítási hivatal (BNGRC) az esti órákban.
További ezer ember háza a múlt héten dőlt romba a heves esőzés miatt – közölte a BNGRC, mely szerint még emelkedhetnek a számok.
A Gamane-t az esti órákban erős trópusi viharrá minősítették át, és a meteorológiai előrejelzések szerint várhatóan péntek délután hagyja el a csendes-óceáni szigetet.
A ciklon sajátossága, hogy a pályáját az utolsó pillanatban tudták megállapítani. Tizenkét órával az érkezése előtt az előrejelzések úgy vélték, hogy csak súrolja a szigetet.
Elack Andriakaja, a BNRGC főigazgatója elmondta, hogy ez a fajta ciklon igen ritka. Szinte álló helyzetben halad előre, és ahol tartózkodik, minden infrastruktúrát lerombol, aminek súlyos következményei vannak a lakosság szempontjából, és nagyszabású árvizek kísérik.

Hétfőn pusztító ciklon csapott le a Franciaországhoz tartozó Réunion szigetre. A ciklon az 1,3 millió lakosú Mauritiust is elérte és a riasztási fokozatot 4-esre, a maximális szintre emelték a ciklon átvonulását követően. A BBC 90 kilométer/órát meghaladó erejű széllökésekről számolt be.
A kormány mindenkit arra utasított, hogy maradjon otthon. Kedd délig kijárási tilalom van érvényben csak néhányan, például a mentésben dolgozók mehetnek ki. A hatóságok jelezték azt is, hogy az iskolák kedden zárva maradnak.
A szigeten több ezer ember maradt áram nélkül, a fővárosban, Port Louis-ban sok autó víz alá került, egyes esetekben a járműveket az áramlatok elsodorták. A területet hétfőn özönvízszerű esőzések és óránként több mint 100 kilométeres széllökések sújtották.

Dél-Indiában a hatóságok az oktatási intézmények és a hivatalok zárva tartását rendelték el, leállították a légi forgalmat és megkezdték a part menti területek evakuálását a következő 24 órában várható komoly ciklon miatt.
A Michaung névre keresztelt ciklon várhatóan kedden reggel, óránkénti 90-110 kilométeres sebességű széllel éri el Andra Prades állam partvidékét. Az érintett partszakaszon eddig nyolc település mintegy hétezer lakosát menekítették ki elővigyázatosságból, de a vihar erejétől függően további evakuálásokra is felkészültek a hatóságok.
Hasonlóan szigorú intézkedések vannak érvényben a szomszédos Tamil Nadu államban is, ahol a hatóságok négynapos munkaszünetet rendeltek el négy tengerparti kerületben a viharra tekintettel. Csennaiban, az állam székhelyén pedig felszólították a lakosokat, hogy maradjanak otthon és csak rendkívül szükséges esetben hagyják el a otthonukat.
A viharossá váló időjárási körülmények miatt a hatóságok megtiltották a halászok számára mindkét államban, hogy a nyílt tengerre merészkedjenek.
Helyi médiajelentések szerint hétfőn két órára le kellett állítani a csennai repülőtér működését, több járatot töröltek vagy más városokba irányítottak át, miután özönvízszerű esőzés csapott le városra.

A szervezet kiemelte: bár a Mocha már elhagyta a két délkelet-ázsiai országot, még mindig nagy a földcsuszamlások kockázata, egészségügyi hatóságok pedig vízi úton terjedő betegségektől tartanak.
Catherine Russell, az UNICEF főigazgatója rámutatott arra, hogy a ciklon éppen azokat a közösségeket sújtotta leginkább, melyek már korábban s „megtapasztalták a konfliktusok, a szegénység, a bizonytalanság, valamint a klímaváltozás okozta nehézségeket”.
Mianmarban több mint 16 millió embert – köztük 5,6 millió gyereket – érinthetett a ciklon és utóhatásai, elsősorban a nyugati Arakán államban és környékén.
Bangladesben, ahol a világ legnagyobb – és legzsúfoltabb – menekülttáborának számító Cox’s Bazar is található, egymillió, Mianmarból elmenekült rohingja muszlim, köztük 500 ezer gyerek kerülhetett a vihar útjába.
Bár a táboron a ciklon szeme nem söpört végig, a menekültek számára kiépített infrastruktúra megrongálódott.
Az UNICEF egyúttal bejelentette, további segélyszállítmányokat küld az érintett térségekbe.
A Mocha vasárnap ért partot Bangladesnél és Mianmarnál. Az ENSZ Humanitárius Ügyeket Koordináló Hivatala (OCHA) felhívta a figyelmet arra, hogy már a ciklon okozta pusztítás előtt is mintegy hatmillióan szorultak humanitárius segítségre a térségben.
