A Honenu nevű izraeli jogsegélyszolgálat szerint az izraeli hatóságok őrizetbe vettek négy embert, akik elállták a Gázai övezetbe tartó teherautók útját a ciszjordániai Maálé Adumim telepes város határában.
A jordániai kormány elítélte az incidenst, mondván, hogy teljes mértékben az izraeli hatóságok felelősek a segélykonvojok és nemzetközi szervezetek biztonságának szavatolásáért.
Jordánia teherautókon, de légi úton is juttat segélyeket a tengerparti övezetbe, amelynek mintegy 2,3 milliós lakosságának nagy részét humanitárius szervezetek szerint éhínség, illetve betegségek fenyegetik.
Az ammáni tárca szerint a szerdán indult konvojok egyike 31 teherautóval az erezi határátkelőhöz tartott a Gázai övezet északi részén, míg a másik, 48 teherautóval a déli Kerem Salom felé.

Huszein a felvételen tagadta, hogy összeesküvést tervezett volna a jordán kormány ellen, ugyanakkor korrupcióval és alkalmatlansággal vádolta meg őket. Az ő verziója szerint egy vezető tisztviselő megtiltotta, hogy emberekkel találkozzon, amiért a találkozókon általában kritizálta a kormányt és a királyt. Egy ilyen klánvezéreknél tett látogatás után tartóztatták le.
Az őrizetbe vett herceg a néhai Huszein király kedvenc fia, aki 1999-ig, a király haláláig a trón örököse, a koronahercegi cím birtokosa volt, de a király halálakor még túl fiatalnak találták az uralkodáshoz, pár évvel idősebb féltetsvére, a Huszein király második feleségétől szültett II. Őrizetbe vették Jordánia volt koronahercegét, Hamza bin Husszeint a jordániai hatóságok. Az ország miniszterelnök-helyettese azt közölte: a herceg törzsi vezetők segítségével akarta destabilizálni az ország kormányát – írja a Portfolio a BBC alapján.
Ajman Szafadi helyettes miniszterelnök azt nyilatkozta, hogy „külföldi entitásokkal” dolgozott együtt Hamza bin Husszein, hogy véghez vigye állítólagos államellenes cselekedetét.
A volt koronaherceg két videót is elküldött a BBC-nek, melyben azt állítja, hogy házi őrizetben van. Tagadta, hogy bármilyen állam ellenes cselekményre készülne, viszont korrupcióval és inkompetenciával vádolta meg a jordániai államot.
Hamza bin Husszein mellett őrizetbe vették még Abdullah-király egyik volt tanácsadóját és a királyi család egy meg nem nevezett tagját is.
Hamza bin Husszein Abdullah-király féltestvére. Édesapja, Husszein-király halála után Abdullah vette át a trónt és átruházta Hamza bin Husszeinről a koronaherceg-titulust fiára.
Egyiptom, Törökország és Szaúd-Arábia mind támogatásukról biztosították a jordániai kormányt.
Biztonsági okokra hivatkozva többeket őrizetbe vettek a jordániai biztonsági erők, közöttük Abdullah király egyik volt tanácsadóját és a királyi család egyik tagját – jelentette a Petra jordániai hivatalos hírügynökség.
Az ügyet jól ismerő illetékesek szerint az ország destabilizálására irányuló összeesküvés van az ügy hátterében.
Két, nevének elhallgatását kérő vezető a Reuters brit hírügynökségnek azt mondta, hogy a biztonsági erők a házában kihallgatták Abdullah király féltestvérét, Hamza volt trónörököst is, de őt nem vették őrizetbe.
A The Washington Post című amerikai lap úgy értesült, hogy a jordániai hatóságok őrizetbe vették a volt koronaherceget és csaknem húsz másik embert „az állam stabilitásának veszélyeztetése” miatt. Abdullah a hatalmának megerősítése céljából 2004-ben vonta vissza Hamza trónörökösi rangját.
A Petra értesülése szerint a letartóztatottak között van a tanulmányait az Egyesült Államokban végző Bászem Avadallah, a király régi bizalmasa, volt pénzügyminiszter, valamint Saríf Haszán bin Zaíd, a királyi család tagja. A hírügynökség további részleteket nem közölt.
A nyugati országok szövetségesének számító Jordániában ritka a magas rangú vezetők és a királyi család tagjainak őrizetbe vétele – jegyezte meg a Reuters brit hírügynökség.
Az Egyesült Államok szövetségesének, Abdullah királynak sikerült megteremtenie a politikai stabilitást az országban és kiemelkedő arab vezetőnek számít, akinek adnak a szavára, különösen nyugati fórumokon.
Avadallah, aki 2008-ban mondott le a király törvényszék elnöki tisztéről, előzőleg pedig a gazdasági reformok atyja volt, szemben találta magát a konzervatívok ellenállásával és a továbbra is burjánzó bürokráciával.
Az amúgy is befolyásos jordániai hírszerzés szerepe megnőtt, amióta a koronavírus-világjárvány miatt veszélyhelyzetet hirdettek ki tavaly, civil szervezek szerint megsértve a polgári és politikai jogokat.
A jordániai rohamrendőrség a múlt hónapban feloszlatta az „arab tavasz” tízéves évfordulója alkalmából Ammanban és más városokban tartott tiltakozó megmozdulásokat, szemtanúk szerint tucatnyi aktivistát vettek őrizetbe.

Egy jordániai bíróság szerdán halálra ítélt hat embert egy 16 éves fiú megkínzása miatt – adta hírül az Origo.
A fiút tavaly októberben rabolták el a fővárostól, Ammántól keletre található Zarkából, majd egy kietlen területre vitték, ahol az összegyűlt emberek megkínozták, levágták mindkét kezét és kivájták egyik szemét.
Az esetről videofelvételek keringtek, amelyeken a vérben fekvő fiú látható az utcán.
Beszámolók szerint a támadás bosszú volt a fiú apja ellen, akit akkoriban börtönöztek be emberölés vádjával.
Tizenhét embert állítottak bíróság elé, kilenc pontban, köztük gyilkossági kísérlet, terrorizmus, emberrablás, maradandó fogyatékosság okozása és illegális fegyvertartás miatt emeltek ellenük vádat.
A Petra jordániai hírügynökség szerint a hat, kötél által halálra ítélt ember közül egyet távollétében ítéltek el. Hét vádlottat felmentettek, a maradék négy embert egytől 15 évig terjedő börtönbüntetésre ítéltek.

A Jordániában ételmérgezéssel kórházba szállítottak száma több mint duplájára, 826-ra nőtt, és egy ötéves gyerek meghalt, miután romlott shawarma húst ettek ugyanabban az étteremben – közölte Jordánia egészségügyi minisztere, Szaad Dzsaber.
Ain al-Basha körzetében hétfőn kezdtek jelentkezni tömegével a betegek. Keddi közlések szerint addig legalább 385 ember került kórházba. A shavarmát és más gyorsételeket árusító éttermet bezárták, miután mintákat vettek elemzésre. A tulajdonos ellen vizsgálatot indítottak, írja az MTI.
Az étteremben felszolgált húsban mérgező baktériumokat mutattak ki. Dzsaber szerint a páciensek egy része már elhagyhatta a klinikákat, de 321 beteg még kezelésre szorul. Négy gyerek intenzív osztályra került.
Jordániában legalább 385 embert szállítottak kórházba ételmérgezéssel, mindnyájan ugyanabban az étteremben fogyasztottak – jelentette kedden a fővárostól északra található al-Balká kormányzóság egészségügyi hatóságának tisztségviselője, Váel al-Azzáb.

A minták kiértékelését szerdára várják, hogy meghatározhassák, mi betegítette meg az embereket – fűzte hozzá Azzáb.
A pácienseket hat kórház között osztották el al-Balká kormányzóságban, illetve Ammánban. A legtöbb beteg állapota stabil, és várhatóan szerdán már elhagyhatják a kórházakat, ketten azonban az intenzív osztályra kerültek.
