Kiürítették a kanadai parlamentet szombat délután, miután egy férfi elbarikádozta magát az épület keleti szárnyában. A rendőrség több száz járművel érkezett ki az esetre. Az épületet lezárták, a bent tartózkodókat arra kérték, hogy zárkózzanak be, és bújjanak el. A férfit szombat este tíz órakor tartóztatták le.
Több órára lezárták a kanadai parlamentet, miután egy férfi illetéktelenül behatolt, és elbarikádozta magát az épület keleti szárnyában. Az ottawai rendőrség szerint a férfi szombat délután jutott be az épületbe. Az incidens miatt kiürítették az épületet, és lezárták az utakat a Parlament Hill környékén – írja a The Globe And Mail.
A rendőrség nem sokkal este 10 óra után a közösségi médiában jelentette be a letartóztatást, és közölte, hogy egy férfit őrizetbe vettek. Indítékról vagy vádakról nem volt szó.

A férfi motivációjáról kérdezve Bouwmeester felügyelő azt mondta, hogy ez a kérdés a folyamatban lévő nyomozás része, és jelenleg nem tud nyilatkozni róla.
Patrick Brazeau szenátor az X-en, a korábbi Twitteren tette közzé a Parlamenti Védelmi Szolgálat lezárási közleményét. A kommüniké egyúttal felszólított mindenkit, aki az épületben tartózkodik, hogy keressen menedéket a legközelebbi helyiségekben, „zárjon be minden ajtót, és bújjon el”.
A kanadai parlament az április 28-i szövetségi választások miatt nem ülésezik.

Több volt magas rangú politikust, közöttük Trajko Veljanoszki egykori házelnököt ítélte több évi szabadságvesztésre egy észak-macedón bíróság, mert bizonyítást nyert, hogy szerepük volt a szkopjei parlament elleni 2017-es támadásban.
Trajko Veljanoszkit hat év börtönre ítélték, és ugyanekkora büntetést kapott Vladimir Atanaszoszki egykori vezető hírszerző, míg Mile Janakieszki volt közlekedési, valamint Szpiro Risztovszki egykori munkaügyi és oktatási minisztert hat év és három hónap letöltendő börtönbüntetésre ítélték a nemzetbiztonság veszélyeztetése miatt.
Az ítélet szerint a férfiak segítettek abban, hogy a parlament előtt tiltakozó tömeg 2017. április 27-én be tudjon törni az épületbe.
A jobboldalt támogató tüntetők azt követően törtek be a szkopjei parlamentbe, hogy a szociáldemokraták és az albán kisebbségi pártok új házelnököt választottak meg anélkül, hogy erre felhatalmazást kaptak volna. A tüntetők székekkel dobálták meg a képviselőket, egy kisebb verekedésben legalább nyolc képviselő megsérült, a kisebbségi Albánok Szövetsége nevű párt képviselőjét, Zijadin Selát pedig eszméletlen állapotban szállították kórházba, ahol több hétig ápolták, mert agykárosodást szenvedett és amnéziás lett.
A jobboldali tüntetőket az háborította fel, hogy albán házelnököt választott a parlament, ami számukra elfogadhatatlan volt. A kiegyezés az albán kisebbségi pártokkal az első lépés volt az új kormány megalakítása felé. A 2016 decemberében tartott előrehozott parlamenti választást hiába nyerte meg a jobboldali Belső Macedón Forradalmi Szervezet – Macedón Nemzeti Egység Demokratikus Pártja (VMRO-DPMNE), az albán kisebbségi képviselők támogatása nélkül nem tudott kormányt alakítani, a második helyen végző Macedóniai Szociáldemokrata Szövetség (SDSM) viszont megegyezett az albán kisebbségiekkel, és megszerezte támogatásukat a kormányalakításhoz. A szociáldemokrata Zoran Zaev 2017 májusa óta vezeti a kormányt.
A parlament elleni támadással összefüggésben több embert is elítéltek, 2018-ban már heten összesen 81 év letöltendő börtönbüntetést kaptak. Jelenleg is folyik több vádlott ügye, köztük Nikola Gruevszki volt miniszterelnöké.

A kabinet a koronavírus-járvány miatt keletkezett költségvetési hiány csökkentése érdekében kényszerül átalakítani az adórendszert. A többi között mérsékelni akarta a adókedvezményeket, növelni egyes csoportok személyi jövedelemadóját, és el akarta törölni bizonyos árucikkek és szolgáltatások általános forgalmi adó alóli mentességét.
