Öt újságírót ítélt börtönbüntetésre egy vietnámi bíróság, mert a vád szerint „visszaéltek a demokratikus jogokkal” – jelentette a helyi sajtó szombaton.



A Mekong-delta déli részén lévő Can Thó város bírósága négy és fél éves börtönnel sújtotta két nappal ezelőtt, Truong Chau Huu Danh-t, a Bao Sach (Tiszta újság) nevű Facebook-oldal alapítóját, aki égető társadalmi kérdésekről és megvesztegetési ügyekről közölt cikkeket.



Az indoklás szerint Danh cikkei „reakciós gondolatokat tartalmaztak, amelyek nem szolgálják az ország érdekeit” – írta a vietnami VNA hírügynökség, bírósági dokumentumokra hivatkozva.



Négy vádlott-társát kettő és három év közötti börtönbüntetésre ítélték.

Mind az öt újságírót azzal sújtották, hogy büntetésük letöltése után három évig nem gyakorolhatják szakmájukat.



Ned Price, az amerikai külügyminisztérium szóvivője az esetet pénteken kommentálva azt mondta, hogy az ítélet egyike azoknak a „nyugtalanító törekvéseknek” amelyek célja minden olyan médiamunkás és állampolgár őrizetbe vétele, aki gyakorolja „a véleménynyilvánítás és a sajtó szabadságához való jogát”.



„Ez az újságírócsoport a megvesztegetésekről szóló oknyomozó riportokra összpontosított, ami természetesen nem bűncselekmény” – mondta.



„Az Egyesült Államok felszólítja a vietnami hatóságokat […], hogy engedjék szabadon az öt újságírót és mindazokat, akiket igazságtalanul tartanak fogva, és tegyék lehetővé, hogy Vietnamban minden személy szabadon és megtorlástól való félelem nélkül fejthesse ki véleményét” – tette hozzá Ned Price, az amerikai külügyminisztérium szóvivője.



A keményvonalas vietnami kormány gyakran gyorsan cselekszik az ellenvélemény elfojtása érdekében, bebörtönözve aktivistákat, újságírókat és minden olyan bírálót, akinek nagy közönsége van az országban széles körben használt Facebookon.



Júliusban Pham Chi Thanh volt rádiós újságírót, aki szintén ismert demokráciapárti aktivista volt, öt és fél év börtönbüntetésre ítélték, mert információkat tett közzé a Facebookon.



Bírálói szerint a kormány sokkal keményebben lép fel a másként gondolkodókkal szemben azóta, hogy Nguyen Phu Trongot az év elején egy titkos kongresszuson újraválasztották a kommunista párt vezetőjévé.



A Riporterek Határok Nélkül nevű nemzetközi jogvédő szervezet 2021-es sajtószabadság-indexében Vietnam a 175. helyen áll a 180 országot felsoroló listán.

A fehérorosz biztonsági erők mintegy hetven olyan újságírót vettek őrizetbe a múlt vasárnapi elnökválasztás óta, akik az állítólagos tömeges választási csalásokról és az emiatt kezdődött tüntetésekről számoltak be – közölték újságírószervezetek.







Huszonhárman közülük még csütörtökön is őrizetben voltak – jelentette pénteken a Riporterek Határok Nélkül (RSF) nevű nemzetközi szervezet, a Belorusz Újságírószövetség (BAJ) közlésére hivatkozva.



Közlésük szerint a médiamunkásokat önkényesen letartóztatták, megverték, és egyes esetekben hosszabb időre bebörtönözték. A választások napja óta 29 esetben jelentettek a szövetségnek újságírók ellen elkövetett rendőri erőszakot. Legalább hét riporter súlyosan megsérült.



„Teljességgel elfogadhatatlan a szabad sajtó elleni ilyen támadás, különösen egy európai országban” – mondta Michael Rediske, a Riporterek Határok Nélkül szóvivője az Európai Uniós tagállamok pénteki brüsszeli külügyminiszteri találkozójához időzítve, amelynek egyik fő témája volt, hogy szankciókat készítsenek elő a tiltakozókkal szembeni erőszak elkövetői és a választási eredmények meghamisításáért felelősök ellen.



Augusztus 9-e óta az internet teljesen vagy részben elérhetetlen – tették hozzá. A legtöbb hírportál továbbra is le van tiltva. Fehéroroszországban a választás óta minden nap az utcára vonulnak az emberek, tüntetéseket jelentettek Minszkből, Grodnóból, Bresztből és más városokból is. A hatóságok országszerte több ezer ember vettek őrizetbe, és két tüntető halálának a hírét erősítették meg.

A sajtó- és internetszabadságért tüntettek több százan Kirgizisztán fővárosában, Biskekben, Közép-Ázsia legdemokratikusabbnak tartott országában.









Ugyanis a törvény, mely most még csak tervezet – Szooronbaj Dzseenbekov köztársasági elnöknek még alá kell írnia –, arra kényszerítené a webhelyeket, hogy bírósági végzés nélkül távolítsák el a kormányzati szervek által hamisnak ítélt információkat.



Újságírók vélekedése szerint a törvény arra szolgál majd, hogy az őszi parlamenti választások előtt a hatalom elhallgattassa a korrupciót feltáró oknyomozó portálokat.
