A rendőrségi jelentés szerint a tragikus esemény az Odessza Primorszkij kerületében egy panelház egyik lakásában történt. A 23 éves katona haláláról szóló bejelentést a 102-es vonalon 2:00 óra körül tette az egy évvel idősebb bátyja.
A rendőrök megállapították, hogy a bejelentést tévő férfi egy barátját és két ismerős, 17 és 20 éves lányt hívott meg magához. A buli alatt a fiatalabb lánynak kedve támadt, hogy megpróbálja szétszedni és összerakni a lakás tulajdonosának gépkarabélyát, a kezébe vette a fegyvert, majd lövések dördültek. A golyók a 23 éves katonát találtak el. A férfi a helyszínen belehalt a sérüléseibe.
A nyomozók a bűncselekmény helyszínén egy Kalasnyikov gépkarabélyt és több tárat foglaltak le hozzá való töltényekkel, plusz töltényeket, két pisztolyt és egyéb, a nyomozás szempontjából fontos tárgyakat. A rendőrök minden tárgyi bizonyítékot szakértői vizsgálatra küldtek.
Az ügyben a rendőrség gondatlanságból elkövetett gyilkosság címén indított büntetőeljárást. A hatóságok vizsgálják a katona halálának valamennyi körülményét, valamint az automata fegyverek lakásban történő tárolásának okait. Az elhunyt holttestét igazságügyi orvosszakértői vizsgálatra küldték a halál pontos okának megállapítása végett. A nyomozás folyamatban van.

A közlemény szerint szerdán 6:30 órakor érkezett a rendőrségre a bejelentés egy arra járótól, hogy férfihullát látott egy betongödörben a garázstelep mellett. A helyszínre kiérkezett rendőrök nyomkövető kutya segítségével hamar megtalálták a két elkövetőt és a lakást, ahol a gyilkosság történt.
Mint a nyomozás kiderítette, a tragikus eset július 27-én történt, amikor három férfi italozás közben összeveszett, és a vita hevében a házigazda és vendége a régi sérelmeket felhánytorgatva rávetette magát az okvetetlenkedő ivócimborára, és addig rugdalta, amíg nem adott életjelet magáról. A két támadó ezt követően aludni tért, és csak másnap reggel észlelte, hogy az 56 éves férfi nem él. A hullát takaróba csavarták, és este a ház közelében lévő betongödörbe dobták. Cselekményük 15 évig terjedő szabadságvesztéssel büntethető.

A rendőrségi közlés szerint a 30 éves férfi eltűnését egy szumi illetőségű nő jelentette a hatóságnak. Mint elmondta, három napja nem látta az illetőt. Az elindított nyomozás során sikerült behatárolni az eltűnt ismeretségi körét, és így került képbe az 57 éves nyugdíjas, akivel utoljára látták együtt az áldozatot.
A vizsgálat kiderítette a gyilkosság körülményeit. E szerint a két férfi italozással ünnepelte május elsejét a folyó partján, ahol sokat ittak és összevesztek. Az idősebbik ekkor baltát ragadott és a fokával többször lesújtott ismerőse fejére és arcára, amitől az a helyszínen életét vesztette. Amikor látta, hogy cimborája élettelen, a holttestét elrejtette, majd másnap hajnalban visszament és a folyóhoz közeli bozótban elásta. A nyomozók pénteken megtalálták a hullát, és igazságügyi szakértői vizsgálatra vitték. Az elkövetőt őrizetbe vették.
